Out - wait for it - standing. :o :-* The paintjob is just great - subdued enough to be "realistic", yet contrastive enough to catch the eye. Casting must have taken ages (I gather that's HirstArts or something similar?).

Yes, its all Hirst..other than a few props...I should have mentioned that...if you follow thru to the blog..I've detailed whats used, costs, time, etc. Thanks Chris...I am a big fan of your work I have seen here too!

Yes, it's all there - I admit I was just gawking at the marvellous pics. :D

Extremely cool board :-*
And welcome to the LAF! You fit in well ;)
-
Never too much rust used! That is the best hulk I´ve seen yet!
-
That is GREAT! I'm thinking of getting some of those hirst tiles myself.
-
Wow, thats just...awesome...of course to me, its now crying out for another cargo bay, infested with an alien hive/nest ;D
-
Wonderful colours! And you've also given me ideas for what to do when I've finished my Space Hulk set!
-
By the Gods that is nice! Really great work. The paintwork looks lovely. What is your technique?
-
Outstanding! I love your colours. What kind of wash did you use for the rust effect?
-
Lovely finish on the Hirst arts stuff! Is that a mars/moonscape in the back?.........and does your building interior have an exterior leading out on to it?
-
Absolutely gorgeous. Just well done. I can't think of anything else. :-*
Nice blog, by the way! I have bookmarked it.

Thanks all for the support.

Its a weathering powder, this orange one in particular is from http://www.awesomepaintjob.com/, Forge World also makes some nice powders

Yes, the table in the rear was something I did awhile ago the are some pictures of it with some 15mm stuff here http://plasticlegions.blogspot.com/2010/11/abandoned-base.html (http://plasticlegions.blogspot.com/2010/11/abandoned-base.html)
I just put that in the background for looks with the photo's however there is an airlock (where the floor is painted with the big caution stripes)
so if I rotated the build 90 degrees clockwise, yes you could walk right on red moonscape.
-
You dont want that! PM me and i will arrange to take it off your hands lol
-
Fan-dam-tastic!
LOVE that thing, It would be great just swarming with Sathar or Zoraqqor!
Later fellow Pb heads!

Well, that's alright for some.
Questions:
How many different Hirst molds are used in its production? And what was the mould budget?
Is it glued down for a permanent floorplan? Or are you leaving it re-configurable?
If it's reconfigurable, what material do you cast with so that it's durable? I would think loose pieces are more likely to get chipped. Your experience?
cheers

How many different Hirst molds are used in its production? And what was the mould budget?
8 molds totals, 2 were identical copies of one the floor molds...costs of the 8 molds used currently
is $250. I however only bought 3, this time and borrowed the rest.
the so mold budget for me was $100.00
Is it glued down for a permanent floorplan? Or are you leaving it re-configurable?
Currently walls are glued in very large pieces and not glued to the floors with the exceptions of some areas around doorways, which are some looser smallee pieces..I do plan on gluing it all together so each floor piece is its own separate room you can put together. Its semi re configurable...it wasnt designed to be modular in the classic space hulk sense its designed however to be added on to.
If it's reconfigurable, what material do you cast with so that it's durable? I would think loose pieces are more likely to get chipped. Your experience?
Merlins Magic Hobby Stone..which is essentially dental plaster, its extreme durable...which the exception of dropping it 4 feet on to a concrete floor
it doesn't really chip.
If you're interested in all the details..click thru to initial blog post I linked to. I go over time, materials, costs, etc...
Thanks

Thanks. I realised I had probably missed most of the answers I was seeking at some earlier point.
