Here are some more Foundry Zulus (incorporating a few of their northern kin, the Copplestone Ngoni) recently in Steve Dean's painting competition - where they got roundly Dallimored in the semis...
Again ::)
A few of these appeared in the last LPL. But 10 of them were painted several months ago to add to the collection just before quite a few LAFers got to play with them at BLAM.
But they haven't been pictured here before in detail, so here goes...

These were the ones that appeared in LPL4.

And these were the previous ones I did...

Given how little these chaps wear, I confess I don't find them particularly easy painting. So my Zulu collection is unlikely to expand much beyond 25... ;)

fabulous painting, Richard!
-
Beautifully rich painting.

Now that is a real damn shame. I love your medieval paint-jobs, but this is the stuff that really makes my heart sing. It's funny you should say that they aren't easy painting, because Copplestone Ngoni are I think my favourite things to paint in all the world. I'm on a five-minute break from painting some right now.

Splendid stuff, had my vote all the way. Especially against that stupid plastic toy ;)
-
look really good :)
-
Really nice painting and evocative pictures! :-*

Beautifuuly done! I keep saying this, but they are your best yet. You really do need to persevere and get a few hundred painted ;)
-
WOW! Beautiful painted! :-*
-
Those are really beautiful. But you really need a lot more than 25 of them.
-
Marvelous as always!
One is tempted to comment on some aspect particularly well rendered but to be quite honest from shields to skin, this is a top notch effort in every way.
-
marvellous

Richard
of course, it doesnt count unless there are 'fousands of them!
Seriously though, great, great work. The shields are the best I've ever seen
-
Colonel,
I saw these earlier, and then again on Steve's forum. I thought they were, quite simply, wonderful. I love the richness of colour and, for me, the skin tone's perfect. Well done indeed! :-*

Has, he been promoted ??? ;) lol

Has, he been promoted ??? ;) lol
It's about time if he has lol
-
Captain Blood is a sea captain, which is the equivalent of an army colonel anyway, so it is more of a step on to dry land than a promotion. Maybe his ship sank.
-
Nice to see that you've got a hold on the basic principles of painting. ;)
-
Thank you chaps :)
The Blood who stole The Crown Jewels was of course a colonel ;)
-
Oh lovely stuff, beautifully done 8)

I thought that was Major Bloodnok :?
-
Those really are outstanding!! :-* :-* with my own Zulu project penciled in for next month, these will be a great source of inspiration. Have you or will you be painting any British troops to take them on?
-
After having made up my mind to switch to the Sudan after the recent WI thread, this fantastic collection is now drawing me back to the south of the Dark Continent!
Great work!
-
wow... the skintones are so simple and true!
-
Superlative work sir!
I hate to sound like a minah (sp?) bird, but the above outspoken gentle men are indubitably correct, Magnificent work and a true shame, as said above, that you think it poor work.
