Title: Which Siege Engine to Sculpt?
Post by: Sangennaru on 21 February 2011, 09:05:02 PM
Hi everyone!

I just bought a load of balsa, and i have many new materials and technique to use for some new siege weapons or similar. after the trebuchet (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=19903.0), i would like to do something new, with better details and casting quality!

but i have no plans, i really dunno where  to start and what to do.
so: what do you like most? what do you want me to do? :)

please suggestion would be GREATLY appreciated!

do you have any sketch - reference - photo of yours? lol

if you give me a really detailed sketch-plan and i sculpt one, i'll give one free! ^^

same for everybody else! ^_^

edit: added the battering ram to the list!

I could do my a traction trebuchet - everyone does counterweight ones and they didn't turn up until the turn of the 13th century:

Here you can see that it is not a counterweight but only method of attaching all the (feintly visable) ropes to the crew:

Also a basic cat to provide cover for undermining/sapping

do you like this look?
or do you prefer this other?

(i included the full link because i don't wanna to steal any right of those really good images - i'm just taking ispiration!!!)

i like also the traction trebuchet. but the problem is that in a model is pretty complicated to make it work... you need a huge model and proper servants! :-\

I gave one of my votes to wall defences as the possibilities are quite wide and I'd love to see what you come up with.

you won't believe me, but i did the same... but that's recorsive!!! XD

Since you asked...how about a nice 100 lb. Bombard with an oh-so-fancy barrel?

A giant siege tower, with a battering ram at the bottom, and ballistas inside.....pulled by untold legions of slaves, their wails can be heard from miles away, as the dark grim tower appears on the horizon, striking fear into the defenders.

Just a thought.
