Title: 1/48th or 1/56th plane kits?
Post by: killshot on 26 February 2011, 10:44:27 PM
Can anyone point me in the direction of some plastic plane kits?  I don't want anything expensive since my plan is to make the kit into a crashed objective marker.

Search ebay for SMER 1/48. Low cost, easy to build and rather sturdy

I agree with the comment about SMER but would also add that there are many 'TOY' planes that could be used - so try your local Pound Store (Dollar Store in the USA).

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them both out.

Testor's. 1/48 scale. Only $7.89 each. Sometimes can be found cheaper.
Spad 13 (617N)

Nieuport 17C (613N)

I don't know if Revell is still making its 1/48 Sopwith Camel (#4580). Around $12.99, I think.

Eduard makes a nice 1/48 (German) Albatros III (#8436) and V (#8406). Cost $11-$13 each (Cheaper "Weekend Edition", not the fancy version.)

If you want a bomber, the only source is Roden, and you'll spend more (unless you have a local hobby store that gives you a discount).
