I am shamefully ignorant in regards to things that happened on the eastern front of WWI. Do ya'll have any suggestions on books I should get to expand my knowledge in this area? Thanks! And I apologize if this is not where I should post this.

I enjoyed 'The Russian Army and the First World War' by Nik Cornish. I though it gave a good overview of the Eastern Front from the Russian point of view.

I think one of the absolute best is Dennis Showalter's Tannenburgh Campaign book. Loads of detail at the tactical level. I never realized how much things were in favor of the Russians at first. The Germans were very worried. Terrific book! I also have Stone's book which is also good but doesn't go into as much tactical detail.
Thanks,
John

Thanks for the info on Showalter's book. I'll have a look at it.

There is also the new book on the Brusilov Offensive.

I appreciate everyone's help. I have recently become interested in WWI and I am shocked at how brutal it was. Don't get me wrong, I understand it was God awful, but the more I read the more I am amazed at the sheer destruction that was wrought on all sides. Everything from gas weapons (a horror I can't imagine) to the sheer insanity of telling men they have to charge across 100+ meters against an entrenched enemy that has machine gun strong points. Madness...

There is also the new book on the Brusilov Offensive.
if that's the Dowling one then it's useful for the Austro-Hungarians, less so for the Russians.
A second vote for Stone and Cornish
Battles East by Gerard Irving Root is also worth a look
