Recently got into the whole thing and started off with Incursion to get it all off the ground:

Nice collection you've got there. 8)
-
Great painting and awesome collection!
-
WOW
Nice painting and a great bunch of figures.
I especially like the zombies and look forward to seeing them all in action!
Thanks for posting the pics.
Amalric
-
Fantastic, I love your painting, really well done and creative! Thanks for sharing, looking forward to some After Action reports with these.
-
Nice painting, it gives just the right feel.
I like the performing dog ;) and his base.
-
That doggie is smart too! He puts a target on his chest (where the armor plating is!)
Great looking force!!
-
Thanks for the kind comments guys :D
The target on the Blitzhund is supposed to represent an APE's targeting device hitting it, but I find myself explaining it so often that I dont think it works so may well paint over it.
Got some MI-13 comming next and after that Ive got a large US force here waiting to be painted.
-
Great looking collection, looking forward to seeing more of it.
-
The third pic with the diving bell mask is true awesomeness. I need to get that head/mask for some conversions. Great work.
-
Stunning paint jobs!
Thanks for sharing :)
-
Here are the MI-13 guys:
Going to start my SotTR Americans now.
-
This is my first Yank figure, I did do him a while ago but I'd thought I'd share here. He is an American Mech Pilot, I converted him from the Soviet figure.
-
I had an idea a while ago to do an upgunned Sherman for my Yank army inspired by post war Isreali Shermans (M51 Super Sherman) I know that there were some experiments by the Americans at the end of the war to upgun the Sherman with the same 90mm gun used in the Pershing, so this is what Ive settled on - M4A3E8(90).
Here is a work in progress shot of the turret with the 90mm gun (got it from China, its metal) and IR searchlight.
The barrel next to it is the original 76mm from the Kit (Hobbyboss)
-
Turret's done so now the hull. Here it is base coated with the running gear painted and weathered.
Working on the tracks now, god I hate tracks!
-
Stayed up late last night, wasn't tired ;D

-
Made a start on the Infantry, heres the command squad:
Really enjoyed painting these, I thought they were going to give me problems, their quite "busy" figures but
once I got into it they were quite simple.
HMGs next.
-
Nicely done, the Sherman is excellent :)
-
Those look damn good!! Excellent paintjob on both infantry and Sherman :)
-
Excellent paint jobs!! What did you use for the weathering effects on the tank?? I'm still experimenting with that and really like how yours came out.
-
Cheers Gents.
I sprayed the tank with grey primer and then a basecoat of Flames of war US Armour (Really good colour). I did a pin wash with black ink around the hatches, wheels and stuff. I then Drybrushed it with straight Vallejo Brown Violet. I then mixed equal amouts of Brown Violet and white and drybrushed that on.
The wheels got a very light drybrush of grey around the black rubber and then another light drybrush of Khemri brown on the running gear and lower hull.
Hope that helps :D
-
Thanks for the tips!! :)
-
Great stuff mate - well done indeed! :D
-
Here are the HMG's
(http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/andyblackmore/100_0912.jpg)
And the 1st of 2 Infantry Squads
(http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/andyblackmore/100_0911.jpg)
-
Very nice Mate - your machine like productivity isnt compromising your quality at all (you bugger....)
Bravo! :D
-
Lol its only because Ive had three weeks off work ;D
Back to work on Tuesday, so things will slow down some.
-
Proud to be English Today!
Whilst watching the Wedding Ive finished the 2nd Squad
(http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/andyblackmore/100_0914.jpg)
And here is the whole platoon
(http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/andyblackmore/100_0917.jpg)
Next up will be a Light Mech Squadron
-
1 Light Mech Squadron as Promised :D
(http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/andyblackmore/100_0918.jpg)
All these started with the HMG arm, which I hate, so I got creative with my bits box!
Light Semi-Auto 37mm
Flamer
Anti-Tank Rockets
-
I like the 37mm cannon best, although the GW bitz for the flamer version work quite nicely, too. The rockets are nice and solid, and add a welcome spot of colour to the OD, but the other ones "click" a little better, methinks.
-
Frickin love your weapon conversions! :-*
-
Crikey Moses! I know you were muttering on about SotTR the other night and I assumed this was a project you'd just started*. Simply stunning brushwork on both infantry and vehicles. I wonder if you will be brave enough to bring 'em into the club (I'm thinking of the unfortunate Black Scorpion Redcoats/tape measure interface of a few weeks back...)? It'd certainly be nice to view them in the flesh and possibly even game with them.
Gareth
*Please don't tell me that this lot have been painted in the last month.
-
Actually they've been painted in the last three weeks! ;D Check the time stamps on the posts....
Ive had the last three weeks off work, so I figured I'd get on with them :D
As soon as the Germans are done (starting them next week) we'll be playing with them.
-
How can i have missed this thread ? Really nice work. I love the details on each figure. ;)
-
Cheers Matey.
My three week holiday is over, back to work tomorrow. I'm really pleased with the progress made, 1 complete American Army!
Here is the last offering for the Yanks (for now anyway, might get some mortars/Bazookas/halftracks later). I call it the LCRT1 (Light Chemical Reconnaissance Tank)
And here they are all together: (My 10 APEs could always join the force as well)
So, onto the Germans!
-
Been following the thread for quite awhile and have to say that is some very good work on your American Army.
I love the APE miniatures, but you have done a fine job each and every step of the way. The last tank is especially well done.
-
Hah! That is the coolest Battlemaster APC I've seen. Fantastic idea with the turret conversion! :-*
-
Cheers Guys.
So Ive started the Krauts:
Platoon Command up next.
-

-
Groovy!

Thanks Chaps :D

It's that a Forgeworld Chimera turret in a SOR-B03 Battle Master Recon vehicle body? Do you have any WIP pictures of that build?
-
It is indeed the Forgeworld A/C Chimera Turret on a Westwind Battle Master APC (Recon), the twin HMGs in the turret are actually 15mm Soviet 45mm Anti Tank Gun Barrels from Flames of War. The 50cal and stowage is from the Verlinden 1/48 Sherman Stowage pack.
No WIP shots Im afraid, I did it in one day so went a bit quick to take pictures.

Aufklarer Squad:
Mortar and Machine gun up next.

Really great work once agian, love the softness of the colors :)
-
Subscribed!
You swing a mean brush :-*
Thanks for sharing your pictures.
Have you played many games of SOTR?
Happy Gaming,
Allan
-
I haven't played ANY games of SotTR :o :D
I love the concept so went with it, where I game at my club if we dont like the rules, we'll re-write them till we do ;)
I wont play with anything until its finished (acts as great motivation) so my first game should be soon, Im nearly done.
Glad you like em.

Heres the Rifle Squad:

Working on two things now, some Soviet Zombie Bombs (for a bit of variety in my Zombie unit) and a Tiger 1 Ive rescued off ebay. The Tiger was painted to an average standard in ambush scheme and Im attempting to rescue it with a late war scheme.
-
Really good and crisp paintjobs!
-
That's pretty awesome! Love how clean your painting style is, as well as your complementary bases.
-
Thanks Chaps :D
Assault Pioneers:
Medium Panzer Mecha next.

Ive run out of stuff to paint atm and have some other stuff that needs doing so thats it for a little while.
I'll be back with German Light Mechs and some other bits like the new Incursion stuff soon.
-
Very nice kampgruppe you have there.
I look forward to seeing them in action.
-
They look really nice, and they look grrrrreat together.
I hate to piss on your cornflakes, but there's quite a noticable mold/join line on one of the legs of the mech.
It's a shame as it looks superb otherwise.
Love your WWW2 stuff, keep up they great work, I look forward to your next update :)
-
Even though I'm not technically playing, still looks like I'll need to wear a pair of adult nappies on Wednesday evening.
-
Added a Light recon Mech
(http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/andyblackmore/002.jpg)
-
Looks really good, I can never get my drybrushing to look that smooth for some reason.
-
That is one lovly mecha. :-*
-
Lovely paintjob! :-*
-
Fantastic work mate, really impressed. Some of those miniatures are absolutely stunning. I'm jealous of you for getting to game with them and jealous of anyone who games against you.
-
Where did you get the light Mech from?
Great job :)
-
Cant believe I have only just found this.
:o :o :o :-* :-* :-* :o :o :o
Superb work on all.
Top quality paintjobs. Nice subtle colours and transitions.
Seriously impressed.
Keep it up!
-
Where did you get the light Mech from?
Great job :)
Thanks all :D
The Light Mech is the new Dust Tactics Light Panzer Mech, Modified slightly and re-painted.
-
I normally don't look at the Weird Wars Forum.
But am glad I did with this thread.
Everything is so outstanding.
Love the painting on the armour. :-*
Look forward to seeing ARRs.
-
Thanks Gents.
Here is the first of my new SNAFU Figures
(http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/andyblackmore/001-2.jpg)
-
Nice ;D And I will check out Dust Tactics cause that is one cool machine you've got there.
-
I went and purchased Dust Tactics, because of this thread.
Really like the mechs. The infantry look like they will paint up pretty well.
Now have to paint them up.
-
The Dust mechs are really good looking with the loadouts you've given them. Your figures are ace too. What are the different coloured helmets about though?
-
Some of the figures have helmet covers, so they get the camo treatment, but I'm guessing your asking about the sand coloured ones? It wasn't unusual for German Soldiers to paint their helmets a different colour and I thought it would add a bit of variety :D
-
Bazooka APE
(http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/andyblackmore/001-4.jpg)
-
The last of the Incursion Figures, now Im all up to date.
Now I am moving onto a massive Dark Ages project.
-
Only just come across this thread.
Brilliant!
I hope you get many years of enjoyment with them.
Well done!
tt43.
-
Only just found this thread, Excellent stuff you have here and an inspiration top work sir! ;)
-
Great, inspirational stuff!!
Any chance of getting a painting guide on the German smock/coats?
Thanks
-
Great stuff as always mate - keep up the brilliant work! :D
-
Some really nice stuff in this thread. It is really inspirational for those slackers (me) who want an SoTR army but keep getting side-tracked and doing other things.
THanks for sharing.
-
Great, inspirational stuff!!
Any chance of getting a painting guide on the German smock/coats?
Thanks
Righty ho
I start with a black undercoat.
Step 1. Paint all the uniform areas Desert Yellow. I've used GW and Vallejo for this and both are good. Leave to dry.
Step 2. Paint blotches of Vallejo Luftwaffe Camouflage Green and Beasty Brown. Don't go too mental with this, there should be roughly equal areas of the three colours with no green or brown next to each other. Leave to dry.
Step 3. Wash with Devlan Mud. If your a fan of dips that should work too. This softens the edges and pulls it all together. Leave to dry.
Step 4. Take each colour in turn and mix with a little white so you get a lighter shade of each. This is the fiddly bit, highlight any creases and edges with the appropriate colour. Again less is more here, don't over do it.
Your done!
There is now an optional step 5. You can add small dots of Bleached Bone on the green and brown areas to give you the spot camo affect. Again, restraint is needed here, a little goes a long way, two or three dots per area will do.
Thanks for the comments guys.
-
Have you any interest in the New DUST Tactics figures & walkers?
Great job on the SNAFU collection :)
-
Do you mean the super heavy walkers? I've looked at them but tbh I think they would be too big/overpowered/expensive points wise for SotTR. Fantastic looking models though. I don't like the infantry much, I don't think it fits well with my Westwind stuff style wise.
I do have the Westwind Wolverine box set waiting to paint up.
-
You can actually stat up a basic Heavy Mech in SOTR for about 15 RP. It's worth considering if you're running Ilsa and Gretel because of the army's lack of firepower.
-
Been a while :D
Wolverines
(http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/andyblackmore/002-26.jpg)
Downed pilots
(http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/andyblackmore/003-9.jpg)
-
Nice Wolverines there!
My own meager SoTR forces are growing. I just started my FJ squad, and after them I may either do a couple light drop mecha (MaK Melusines), or do all 15 of my DreamForge Kreigsmarine to use as FJ Drop Armor.
-
Cheers. Not familiar with dreamforge, I'll look em up.

They are a sci-fi German inspired faction for an upcoming game called Iron Core.
www.dreamforge-games.com
I picked up a command squad and 10 man squad to use as droptroopers.
