Superb end result snitcythedog ! Gabions are expensive to buy, I bought a few from Front Rank a while back for a diorama. But I would really need something like 40 to be satisfied, which in the end would cost more than the models used for the diorama itself  lol

I was thinking of doing my own gabions from scratch and your tutorial shows it's possible!

It was your thread that prompted me to dust this technique off and share it.

Cost was an overriding issue when I decided to research and build them.  Initially I only made fifteen and then made a mold.  Total cost including silicone about fifty dollars (US).  Dental plaster was another thirty for fifty pounds.  It was well worth the expense, because I would have spent about a hundred dollars (US) more if I had ordered someone else cast.  I still have the mold and about sixty gabions cast up on the shelf.  I am doing a Wattle tutorial next as I have finished the master and am preparing it for molding.

Snitchy: I remember complaining about not understanding your original explanation. I would just like to say a huge thanks for showing us all how this works. Not sure if I'll be giving it a go any time soon, but I will definitely get some use out of your tutorial.

Thanks again!!!

Your tutorial is very clear and useful.

Those can be used for several gaming periods and even different genres, as they could very easily find their way to some fantasy barricades.

Thanks for sharing.

Gabions aren't something I'm likely to build (but never say never, as ECW/pike & shotte-era stuff does intrigue me...) but thanks for posting the illustrated tutorial, as I was intrigued by your original text howto but flat-out couldn't picture the steps you wrote about!

Picture worth 1,000 words, &c

 :)
