Inspired by Antimatter's and old brush's posts. I ran down stairs and painted this little number. He s been sitting in my too do pile for a while.

See, real wizards do use swords! and shields for that matter. By the way the book he is sitting on is really great. This is the same author who is finishing up the "Wheel of Time" series.

I do love characters of this character, and the shield and sword is definitely unique for a wizard! I do like the highlighting, I am a great fan of highlighting. What company is he from?

Hi Bloodysword, I love wizards with swords and shields. I never liked the fact that Magic Users could never have a sword in D&D. Great mini, always liked this guy and great paint job; I like that blue hat!

He's an old Grenadier figure, Brummie, from the late 70s.

Oh ofc, it says on the title *faceplants* its a long day, and I am at work with little to no customers and a broken system :-[

It's cool seeing the old minis getting a state of the art paint job...VERY WELL DONE!
I've been putting off looking at the final books in The Wheel of Time series; it been so long between books that I'd really have to go back & reread all the preceding volumes..a truly daunting task.

Great Job! He looks like he would be fun to game with. Which set did he come from?
-
Thanks for the comments guys.
Deaf - I find myself in the same predicament with regards to the "Wheel of Time" series. I got up to book 8 and got sick of it. My kid has read all of them to date and he keeps talking about it so maybe I try again this summer. The "Way of Kings" is a Great book.
Anti - the set is called Wizards. The figure is listed as a druid. He looks like a wizard to me!

Nice fig and pj - maybe the reason he is thus armed is that he's not so hot with the old magic! :D

That thought struck me too! =D Nice model, good job on it! Could do with a little less light in the photo though, the glare is a bit annoying. =)
If you have a digital camera in which you can control exposure time, try increasing it and prop the camera up (either on a tripod or just a pile of books with some blutac). Use the self timer to get a steady picture. This seriously improved my own photos (which are still fairly crap).

I was going to title the post, A wizard with confidence issues :)
phreedh - thank you for the camera advice. It is annoying! I'm going to play around with the camera tomorrow.
Anyway here is another wizard I did today as well, Reapers Damien Hellborn. I wanted this minature as soon as I saw him. The picture sucks but I'll try again tomarrow.

VERY COOL! That mini could be used in a variety of game settings...of course, he doesn't quite come across as the "Good Guy". VERY WELL DONE!
In comparison to my photos of ASTOUNDING MEDIOCRITY your photos are works of art.

Once again, very nice PJ, and really nice base. I think that you need a small tripod (actually I bought a large tripod for 20$) either way they are not expensive. The tripod will hold the camera steady, picture looks like your hand moved when you pressed the button. Keep at it, I am still trying different combinations with my pic taking; I think I may try phreedh's timer idea.
