Hello competitors :)
Just a reminder that you need to get your Round 2 entries into me by 12.00 GMT on Saturday 19th March latest.
If you do not enter a replacement team by this date and time, then your Round 1 entry will automatically carry forward into Round 2 and be rematched against a new competitor.
When submitting new teams, please can you remember to include:
- Your LAF user name
- The team title (please keep these as short and uncomplicated as you can!)
- State whether it is a 'new' entry (i.e. newly painted or at least never previously shown online or in print)
- Please can you name your jpeg image with your LAF user name + the round number - not the title of the picture itself.
Please also remember to resize your picture to no more than 800 pixels high by 800 pixels wide.
Your image should also be less than 500kb.
I didn't mention that before, because ordinarily, when one takes an image at hi-res and then resizes it down to 800 pixels wide, one ends up with a picture of between 100kb and 200kb.
Unfortunately, in their Round 1 entries a few people seem to have managed to resize to the correct pixel dimensions, whilst somehow uprating the resolution - which doesn't show in the finished picture by the way - so ending up with files approaching 1MB.
This is too big - I can only load 1MB imagery in total in an individual poll, so as well as adjusting the pixel dimensions of your image, please can you check to make sure it's no bigger than 500kb?
Thanks. :)[/list]

It would have been good to post the email address again too. ;-)

Some of the more complex image editors will resize the pixels but not so much the bytes. A really quick way to deal with this is to open the 800x800 file in Microsoft Paint and then simply select save, which will reset the bytes.

Good advice, thanks Steve.

Sorry Captain,
Will be all over that for round 2.
Was using photoshop and as a recommendation to others choose 'Save for web and devices' rather then 'Save as' would also help fix the file size issue.
It is what I will be doing from now on!
Soz again, fantastic comp already BTW!

Deadline for replacement entries for Round 2 is now closed.
An astonishing 69 out of 72 replacement teams!
Good work :)
Feeling the pace yet, anyone? ;)

Defiantly feeling the pace!
But at least I am painting, which is the point right?

wow 69! ThAt's pretty impressive. Can't wait to see them all.
As far as the pace goes...I think I'm starting to get in the groove...but man there are a lot of weeks left. All I can do is keep pluging along.
Good luck to all!
Cheers,
Blue

Not yet... but anytime now. o_o

Still have a 2 week buffer regarding painting but I think week 5 will consume that. Maybe a mental health day away from work would help... :D

I'm feeling the pace, I'm leaving for the UK the week before Salute so have been trying to get all my entries except the last one finished before I leave. I have finished 4, have 3 left to base and the other 2 to start yet. i've no time to work out the intracacies of the camera let alone try something fancy like composite pics with photo editing. :(
The garden is suffering, weeds everywhere and long grass :)

Will you be here in time for Salute then? ;)
Be a shame to come all the way from NZ and not pop in... ::)

its a carefully timed holiday back to see the family in Wales, cunningly somehow coinciding with the first few days in London and a visit to Salute lol

Amazing coincidence, that! I got to see the last three hours of Salute 11 years ago (!) in 2000, and it showed me that the Brits do wargames shows on a whole different scale than this part of the colonies does. One of these days I'll make it back!
