This is our first foray into 15mm VSF, and a bit different from our usual 1/56 WWII vehicles. :)
In conjunction with The ArmChair General VSF ruleset: "When The Navy Walked" we've started the first master for their Capital Unit vehicles, the German Zyklops.
The master still needs all the excess green stuff removed as well as more detailing to the firing platforms, hinges and handles on the hatches and access panels, I don't want to even think about the number of rivets I have to put on :o But rivets are good :D

More vehicles are to follow. :)
Cheers,
Jeff @ JTFM
Info on the ruleset can be found here. They're working on a set of 28mm skirmish rules as well.

I have only looked at the previews of WtNW but damn that looks like the drawing in it!
-
Looks good, too bad it isn't 28mm, but that would probably become too huge and expensive anyway :)
-
Oh, one thing I only now noticed, perhaps it would look better with split tracks? I always wonder how these things turn with mono tracks on them.

It actually scales up pretty well with a 28mm figure. I'll have to take a pic with one in it for scale. :)

This is an option we've been comtemplating :)

It loks promising for 28mm. I hope the picture shows this, as it would be a beauty (and I don't do 15's). ;)

I am quite impressed with Jeff's work myself. He has brought Jim's concept design to life. This is EXACTLY what I had in mind when I wrote the WTNW world and rules.

I tried my best to stay true to the concept art. :)
Here are 2 pics of the Zyklops with both a 15mm and 28mm figure. Still pretty big next to the 28mm

Still, the size is not bad for 28mm figures.
-
Certainly can't see it taking much work to make it perfectly usable in 28mm.
Put a railing or some sandbags around the top "fire step" and similar on the side platforms...put some kneeling 28mm figures in there and it'll look perfect I'd say.
If course for 15mm it is simply brilliant.
-
Very nice.
I'd probably replace the side guns with Gatlings. The guns there look a little small.
-
I'd say it'd almost work better for 28mm, as an appropriately smaller land ship. On the other hand, I'm really warming to the idea of my GI Joe I.M.P.'s as 15m behemoths.
Isn't it sad when so many pervert your fully realized vision? lol

There are plenty of possibilities for both scales IMHO. I should have eveything complete over the weekend and will post pics then for everyone to pass judgement on. :)
Cheers,
Jeff

All the lumpy green stuff is now cleaned up nicely and blended in. :) The right side face has all the rivets done, and she does look a whole hec of alot better with rivets! :)
I'll post more pics tommorrow after I knock off for the day.
Cheers,
Jeff

Here are the pics from my weekend work. The rivets are taking a bit longer than I anticipated >:(, but I figure another 2 days will see her completed. :)

Let me know what you think of the rivet count do I need more as the other side will be identical and the front is only partially completed.
Cheers,
Jeff

I think it looks great, I am still not convinced about the useability in 28mm, but it tempts me to go into 15mm

Partnered with Rebel and JTFM we're going to have a lot of figures in colonial/vsf for When the Navy Walked! Since Jeff is doing our wonderful designs for our vehicles it allows me to really use his skills! Wait until you see some of WTNW's other designs inspired by the game and by Arsenale Shipworks and The ArmChair General brainstorming up good ideas with JTFM! You guys should check out WTNW if you haven't already. It's a good rule set if I do say so myself even if I did write it.

A lovely imposing piece of hardware!
I'm very tempted to do WTNW in 6mm (just to be awkward) ::)
28mm is too big to even contemplate. 15mm is better, but would still take up too much space and I'd need to buy too much stuff, so 6mm seems best. Happily I have a large bag of 6mm Franco-Prussian War stuff somewhere, that the seller assured me I'd never use ( up yours Pat lol ), so that means I'd "only" need lots of steam tanks.
After all the waffle, the relevant part of this post is: have you any plans to do 6mm as well as 15mm?
If not, oh well never mind, I do have plenty of plastic card and old 1/300 "modern" ( in 1979) tanks that could serve as the basis of conversions.
-
impressive!
You could do 2 sets of doors and weapons so that it can be used in 28mm too
if it is to be german, it should have geraniums on the balcony :D

Could you imagine the Zyklops as the 15mm model in 6mm? It'd be HUGE! WTNW is written for any scale but it works best with 2mm-15mm. If you use 20mm or higher it is recommended to replace 'stands' with 'figures'. As stated previously, we are doing a 28mm skirmish version (see completely different) of the game and later will be doing an RPG as well.
You can combine them too. Say you want a huge battle for a factory. Such a battle can be played in WTNW scale. Then you want to do some combat within the factory using a couple of squads. This can be done using WTNW: Saving the World Before Tea" and then you decide you want to run a game where the players have to get access to a special room where the blueprints are hidden. This can be played in WTNW: Soldiers and Superspies the RPG (working title).

In 6mm it would be something like Moorcock's Land Leviathan :o
Sounds good to me, but I really want to do some big VSF tank battles, so this is what I'm aiming at with WTNW. I'll probably learn the rules with my 28mm stuff doing skirmishes though :)

BiggisButticus - That sounds like a plan! Just ignore the rule of one capital unit for every four ground units. As long as the same amount of points and/or combination of points and machines/capital units are represented on each side it shouldn't be a problem!

Just a quick update, I've been casting up a large order of goodies for Salute but the beast will be complete this weekend in all it's rivet covered glory !
-
Too bad you didn't have one at HotLead!
Although, the T-16 would be a priority for me ;)
-
Jeff that is massively insanely cool! 8)
And the fact that it'd work OK with 28s will just increase your market (which isn't a bad thing is it?).
I love it.
I wonder how it'd look with 15mm Quar? :D

Wait til Council Fires :)
I might even have some other nifty vehicles done to go along with Rob's great rules ;)
Cheers

Well, I'm abashed, yet again. Looks awesome, and perfect with the 15mm's.
I'd have to say the density of rivets are perfect, if that's still a question, but if you added more plates and rivets to my taste, it'd probably never get done. lol

It's done ! :)
Pics tommorrow, I have to buy a new camera :(
To tease all I can say is that it's a rivet lovers dream come true :D
Cheers,
Jeff

I can't wait!

Here she is in all her rivet covered glory! :)
It's going to be one big chunk of resin but will be easy to assemble. Basically the hull, 2 exhaust stacks, 2 tracks, 5 inner sponsons, barrels and the covers for them, and 2 balconies.
Enjoy!
Jeff
