Title: How are handgranades packed for transport?
Post by: Hammers on October 01, 2007, 10:10:35 PM
In egg cartons? I am making some cargo for my steamer and I found a bunch of little 1/35 scale plastic handgranades which seem small enough to be of the same size as the ones my 28mm sailors have in their hands. So how would handgranades be packed in armouries and on their way to the front?

To potential smartasses: "Carefully" is not the answer I am looking for. ;-)

From films I have seen layered in straw or some other material within compartments

They can be delicate things, so I wrap them inside socks and tuck them under my packed shirts and sweaters.

Also, use the old-style hard-sided suitcases.

Safe as 'ouses, no worries.

Howard :
Look out for baggage handlers with body piercings though, they might just  nick the pins if they see them.

Plynkes :
Interesting sort of luggage, do you mind me asking where you found it ?
(We needed to provide a stack of odd pieces for the drama studio at school last term, and are constantly looking for sources. This term is Chekov, but last term was Brecht)

Does Chekov require a lot of hand grenades then?

That sounds a lot more interesting than I'd have expected. H

I always thought yopu put a string through the ring. What else should the rings be used for?  :?

Yes, they need quite a lot of understudies for Onkel Vanya.

One would think Chekov would have a phaser pistol, rather than hand grenades.

(Groan...)

This site may be of help.  They sell the labels for the mills bomb boxes and have a gallery depicting them:

That's a very handy site Tadportly (although not for Chekov obviously).
Shame we didn't find it in time for "Oh What a Lovely War".

We're looking at "The Magic Flute" next term.
Who choses this stuff ? It's bad enough looking for Uncle Vanya's trousers, but now we have to find the queen of the night too.
