Hi,
Just to let you know that La Journee, the story of the build up to putting a demo game of the Battle of Verneuil (1424) for Salute '11 has been updated:
http://lajourney-bedford.blogspot.com/2011/03/twenty-mil-impetus-run-through.html
The idea came to me when reading an academic article by mike Jones where he discusses the importance of the psychology of the soldiers that fought at Verneuil as well as the use of pagentry that was to play such a vital role in the rallying of the scattered English army; exactly how would this translate itself on a tabletop as a demo game. A few months later Simon (Painterman) offered to step in and help (he nearly took over lol- just as well really as I'm occupied for most of my time painting other peoples miniatures!).
Anyway, we were very happy with the result and so here's a little taster-

Don't forget to check out my blog (link above) as there are many, many more pics.
I'd be very happy to hear what you guys think.
Cheers,
Darrell.

Looks like a good game but I'd put a little bit more scenery on the table to break up the large amount of green :)
If it's for Salute you want people to go Wow!
I really like the cavalry basing though, it looks like a proper cavalry charge 8)
cheers

Hi Jim,
The layout we used for the 20mm game will not be travelling down to Salute. Our 28mm armies, terrain etc will be ;) :).

Aha, serves me right for not reading the full blog post ::) :)
If I get a chance I'll pop over and say hello, though if last year is anything to go by then I probably be too busy ::)
cheers

Looks good. I've always liked Verneuil as a battle, simply because it's got Scottish and French forces fighting together and still getting beat by we English. lol
Only joking. As I remember from a book I read on the Hundred Years War, the Scottish certainly showed the French that they could fight.
