Title: Pendraken 28mm Elizabethans
Post by: Kingscarbine on 18 March 2011, 09:33:27 AM
Hello,

Are there any photos of this range? Any good ranges for the late 16th c. Wars of Religion?

Avoid them, they are very old school and for the main pumpkin heads.

Some of the Old Glory stuff is OK to be honest

Graven Image do a nice range of border reivers, some of which might be useful. http://www.monolithdesigns.co.uk/borderreivers.htm (http://www.monolithdesigns.co.uk/borderreivers.htm)

Just shows we are all different Lowtardog as I prefer the Foundry figs to the OG which always seem to have awkward postures.

But that's the beauty of having choice, and Kingscarbine can pick what 'floats his boat'.

Ah sorry, I know KC from A while back :) so know he will already have the Mike Owen Foundry Swashbucklers  ;) some of the OG ones aren`t too bad honest, rougher cut but the poses arent as bad as some of their other ranges...lol with the telescopic necks

It wasn't a dig L.T.D.  ;) Honest.

Figure choice is really quite a personal thing. I still like Peter Laing 15mm which are basically crude blobs, virtually no surface detail and with huge oversize weapons (well they are 40 years old)

I have some of the Wars of Religion figures in my collection and I do like them. It is a case of looking at what is available and deciding your preference. Which we all do.

Those Monolith figures look nice too.

I did have some of the Monolith ones but they are Mahoosive and wont mix with other ranges, the Vendel reivers are the only others I can think of or try Gamezone Imperials for more well to do 16th Century figures

I'd stay away from the Pendraken ones myself. Midaski posted this pic on the warhammer empire forum:

Strewth! That's an ugly figure ;D Looks like I'll have to wait for TAG's Spanish Century (late 16th c.) figs to get some decent stuff. Does anyone know if Artizan is also going to do some in the future? Paul Hicks made some figs for Arsenal but no news have arrived about their release.
