Post by: majorsmith on 03 October 2007, 04:18:49 PM: these are em4? models i picked up cheap in berlin on a recent trip, ive gone for a battle worn look, these will be adverseries to my westwind germans.

Actually, they´re both. Mr. C. sculpted them back in ye olden tymes for Grenadier, and now, the "old style" models with tabs for slottabases are available from EM-4, whereas a "new" variant with integral flat base is available in Copplestone´s own range (at about double the price of the EM-4 figures, that is).

I really like the combination and execution of cast-steel surface and chipped paint. Makes them look 100% soviet to me, which is quite a feat since I used the same models for my GERMAN battlesuits ("Wolf")... :lol:

I have to say, though, that I do not like the Gatling. Somehow, it doesn´t spell "WW2" for me. I´d prefer a twin DshK machine gun for it. Or a Maxim MG.

I wonder what it feels like to sculpt the same line of minis twice? I'd be all "Rackem frackem not letting the rights lapse this time rackem frackem." :x

Edit: Likewise agree with the rotary cannon not being the best WW2 weapon out there. Quad mount PPSh!

Post by: Plynkes on 03 October 2007, 04:40:20 PM: I don't really care for the craze for World War Two battle suits and walkers as so few of them actually have 40s stylings and are too "futury" (though I've decided to try not to bang on about it so much any more).

But I do like the helmets on these, as they look like they've scrounged together a bunch of welding masks for them. Unfortunately nothing else about them says anything to me other than "the future." They're great models, don't get me wrong (and I like the worn look they have), I could just never see myself using them in a game that is supposed to be Weird War Two. I'd use them for Stargrunt or something.

I promise this will be the last time I moan about this sort of thing.

Post by: PeteMurray on 03 October 2007, 04:50:05 PM: Chris's doll-part powered armor is my favorite Weird War 2 one, actually. It looks the part, certainly. I built a "Lend-Lease" variant, but since I had no other WW2 figures at the time, it was mostly taking up space. I gave it to Rich, and Rich stuck it in his latest book. If I'd known it was going for that kind of fate, I'd have painted the star a bit nicer.

But since now I have a handful of Japanese command figures, I think a new version based on Chris's design ideas will probably see the light of day.

I assume you edge in a dark colour and then pin point a bit of metal to represent rust?

Best collours? is it dark browns reds?
