I have Mage Knight Whirlwind Galeshi Ram Charger and Mage Knight Galeshi Cavalry for mechanical "horses."
My options for riders are:
Use the (rather large versus my Ral Partha Brits painted as Spanish Aether Marines/Old Glory Spanish) ones provided painted as large armored humans with provided pistols or switch to swords or lances…
Paint the provided riders as clockwork riders (need a source of "keys") with provided pistols or switch to swords or lances
Substitute riders needed as Lancers (Cavalry steam mounts) or Heavy Cavalry (Ram Charger Steam mounts) – if this route was chosen what do you suggest for rider sources?
Gracias,
Glenn

Redoubt produce various mounted colonial troops. You can buy them individually and without a horse. They have lancers, mounted infantry, camel corps, so quite a choice.

You can order keys from Nic at Eureka

Someone got there before me but I think I bought the last one. :D
Can anyone point me in the direction of the colonial lancers on the Redoubt site? I can't seem to find them anywhere.
(scratch that request - they're listed under Zulu Cavalry !!!)
Thanks

I've been using Perry plastic Napoleonic cavalry. Nice minis, not too different from Victorian uniforms, cheap, and easy to reposition for different mounts.

I collect the Steam Horses when i see them for different things. I got his only horse and a Ram but he had a ton of Rams left. On my way back through though someone bought all the Rams. That vendor is usually a good source for the mechanical mounts as well as loads of other MK goodies. :-)

Between techno/fixer and steam mounts I fear I my never get back to the walker I am working on!
Steam forever!
Thought, I know where the water is on Venus - everywhere! But where are the copious amounts of water for Steam Tech on Mars?
Gracias,
Glenn

Boreholes down to subterranean seas, thus providing handy campaign objectives? Melted ice transported in large tanker convoys from the polar ice-caps? Maybe even the ever-present canal network, depending on your vision of Mars ;)
Hopefully you'll post some pics once your project is ready :)

I mainly do ACW VSF and I used Dixon figures for my Mechanical Cavalry. They sell separate riders for a reasonable sum. You do have to carefully bend the legs a little to get them to fit on the mechanical horses.
