Only one wagon so far but more to follow, once I work out how to go about it  ;)

Cheers

Is that the post of a GW-style flying stand as a gun barrel? Genius, great way to get the tapering shape without going mad!

The painting on the Red officer also looks great, looking forward to seeing this progress.

A couple of very clever ideas in there. The magnetic gun base and the gun barrel in particular.

the pins as dampers even more so!
congratulations!

may I ask of what make and gauge the train is?

Thanks...it's a bit made up as I go along but I've salvaged quite a few useful bits and bobs, mostly from the kids toy box and the wife's craft supplies.

It's a Teamster toy train, which is 1/55th scale according to the box.

I guess the gauge is around 25mm / 1''or so but, as the toy doesn't come with tracks I'll have to make my own  :(

A couple more photos here:

It'll get a wash and weathering tomorrow, plus some detail painting and (possibly) some decals, if I have the time.

Cheers

ace!

funny You chose the same color as I did for a similar model  :D
looks very good!

I suggest You try toy plastic tracks, they will be easier to cut to size

I added a bit of a wash and a light over drybrush, together with a couple of decals to add some much needed colour:

Now on to the command / MG wagon but I'm not sure about the layout of the various bits:

OR

It needs a lot of extra detailing but it's going OK so far  ::)

Very nice!
It is amazing the results that can be achieved with some plasticard and bits lying around!

Cool  :o

Very clever use of the plastic sci fi bits and bobs.

I like the louvres on the wagons a lot.

The command / machine gun wagon nears completion, albeit minus paintwork:

It's not THAT tidy...honest.

You just can't see the piles of crap on either side of the picture  :o

Started on the loco:

Nearly finished, minus the tender and the last of the wagons:

Started on the tender using some strip wood, Peter Pig plastic card bases and superglue:

I should get this finished this evening, once work is out of the way  ::)

excellent!

but if You'll want to move them on a track, You won't be able to link them and roll around a curve....
just a warning before You put again an excellent PJ on the LOCO

Thanks

I've glued up the wheels on the wagons so that they sit properly, so I won't be doing any whizzing to and fro  :(

On the other hand, the loco does have sound effects if you push a little button underneath the washer glued onto the top of the boiler (I pinched this idea from a mate of mine)

Choo Choo...

I really like the unusual uses of some very ordinary bits and pieces in the construction of your train!

I agree this is a prime example of "the whole is greater then the sum of its parts" Many of the parts used are plain and "flat" yet all together this actually works together really well and creates a strong motive allround.

Thanks  :D :D

I think that lego and fridge magnets in particular could be really useful in scratchbuilding other things
