Something I've been working on since Velvet Revolver released "Libertad". Only 4 years or so lol
(http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr255/the_gluteus_maximus/Wargames/Slash2.jpg?t=1301138543)
Em4 bass player, with 6-string neck added and a green-stuff top-hat. CD jungle terrain, with aquarium and cake dec plants. Real rocks dry-brushed.
Bugger, I've just realised I need to add the silver disc decorations to the hat >:(
Finished in about another year, then.....lol
-
Haha that's brilliant though when I saw him play with VR he was just going topless..
That was a good gig I was well past drunk lol
Anyway excellent mini..
-
Nice one GM. Some neat greenstuff work and painting from the man who claims not to be able to do anything of such ilk ;D
You just need to start listening to proper guitarists now lol
-
Hey--nice work on the conversion. Love the paint job on the guitar. Is he taking a shot at Axl?
-
Thanks chaps! He actually looks better enlarged than at 28mm. Don't know how that happened lol
As for Axl, I couldn't possibly comment, but after having to wait a couple of hours for him to deign to show up for a GnR gig back in the early 90's, you could be right.
Svennn, I know you prefer Bert Weedon Michael Schenker to Slash, but surely you can't mean that :'(
lol
Now, inspired by a post on another thread, I'm off to look for a 28mm Alice Cooper and then possibly a Lemmy.......

Whooooa! Great stuff and couldn't agree more with Svennn. ;D
...... and he is right about the guitarist too ;)

I do worry - doesn't drink tea, no musical taste. Sometimes I despair :(
lol
Thanks!

Brilliant idea and nice execution to boot :D

Thanks!
Yes, just had my double espresso and croissants for breakfast, feeling very continental this morning :D

Great Gluteus M!
Can we expect a small series? Clapton with an AK 47, Knopfler with a RPG? Hendrix with thermo-nuclear device? That would be sooooooooooo cool. :D
That is sort of what I'm aiming for. They are either going to be the daftest rock band ever, or a pretty cool near-future criminal gang. Hmm, Hendrix. Now then, RHA pelisse and lots of green-stuff for the hippy bits, or maybe a Vietnam-era US Airborne uniform, M16 in right hand, guitar in left, with ban-the-bomb badges etc. Definitely a good idea ;)
Rammstein with flamethrower attachments might be a bit out of my league, though :(
-
Now thinking about of fine guitarists the late Stevie Ray Vaughn would be an excellent figure to do. low crowned black sombrero, poncho with a 57 Strat and being a Texan a Colt 45 Peacemaker. :D
Then you'll get my seal of approval for guitar heroes and I'll forgive you for the lack of musical taste slur ;)

I take it all back (except the tea-drinking bit). Oh yes! A brilliant guitarist, greatly missed. His version of "Little Wing" is amazing :

Finding the right figure shouldn't be too difficult. The guitar may be, though. I need to have a model with one and then convert rather than try and sculpt my own. Thinking about it, that could be a problem with the whole of my project :(
Doug at Em4 could find himself with a large order for axe-men lol

Nah,this is the Man!

Damn right he was brilliant. I was very fortunate to see him at the Hammersmith Odeon on the Live Alive tour in circa 1987 I think? he was Effing fantastic. One of the best gigs I have ever been to. :)
This thread has got great potential. I think Black Scorpion already produce a Jimmy Hendrix. ???
How about Hank Marvin lol

How about Hank Marvin lol
:o Even I draw the line somewhere lol

Really? That will definitely need investigating. Purple Haze indeed!
I was reminded earlier that somewhere I've got three ZZ Top-alikes decked out as musical Western outlaws. They were converted from Foundry western figures by my good friend Bob many years ago. If I can find them and give their paintwork the touch-up they deserve, Los Tres Hombres will also make an appearance.
The Beard Gang ride again........ ;D

Bert Weedon!!! ;D ;D
Reminded of him watching the vid link of the guy who obviously did not manage the full day of Berts course :o
Quite a few companies like Dixons, Foundry and Ainsty make coffins which would cover a lot of the names already mentioned. ::)

Arhh,Black Scorpion produce a Bob Dylan, not Hendrix(don't know how I confused the two. ::)) but he is 40mm :o

lol No comment needed...... ;)
Bert Weedon
Surely any figure of him would be better in a steampunk thread?
(Actually I think Bert might predate steampower.)
You may well be right...

Nice figure, and I think Slash is a fine guitarist. I loved GnR's music back in the later 80's - early 90's before they split and got to see them live 3 times here in the UK (they may reform having seen some stuff online - yes Slash and Axl back together). One of the best hard rock bands ever - but so self destructive - which makes them great potential for a gang in figure gaming :)
-
I love this model.
As a huge GnR fan myself, one of my earliest conversions were Slash, Duff and Axl noise marines
-
Thanks chaps! :D
Yes, love or hate GnR, they were certainly a unique band. I'm still amazed that Steven Adler managed to get himself thrown out for excessive drug abuse. A splendid achievement lol
I'm dubious about Slash and Axl getting back together in the near future and to be honest, with Myles Kennedy currently singing with Slash, I'm not missing Axl at all. Myles is at least as good a singer and has total respect for the fans. I was lucky to have met him and the rest of Alter Bridge at the show in Birmingham last year. A nice bunch of blokes!
Anyway, I'd love to have seen those GnR Noise Marines :)
Think I'll put Duff on the "to-do" list. A good bassist is always useful.

Have you got an Axl , Bono, or the Edge in the works?

I'd like to do the full original GnR line-up. Axl's very recognisable, especially with his bandana, kilt, boots and white leather jacket! Could be fun to add specific rules for the effects of extreme drug/alcohol abuse, lack of communication and in-fighting. There'd also need to be a large investment in Copplestone/Hasslefree attractive young ladies for the inevitable ...errr.... "fans" ;)
Not so sure about the U2 fellas. I lean more towards Metal and the Blues, but you never know. Saw them live in Dusseldorf on the Joshua Tree tour and they put on a fantastic show, so maybe they'd look good in their "Stetson" phase.
Mind you, if I did a figure for every great gig I've been to, I'd be having to use battalion-sized movement trays to get all of them around the table lol
-
Great converion on the figure, he look very convincing!

Judas Priest then?
A Viking fig would lend itself to an easy conversion to K K Downing. There are many Biker/punker figs that could be Rob Halpern...

Rob Halford is a must! So OTT with all that black leather, studs etc. The only surprising thing is no-one guessed he was gay for so long lol
-
:? :? :( I DID spell his name wrong didn't I
Well, the self-flagellation must (OUCH!) St(OOH!) art now..AHHHHHRG!

You nearly got away with it too...........
Do you wear the full Rob H get-up when self-flagellating? ;)

lol
Sorry! :(

;)
What, me worry?
