Title: April pre releases from Eureka
Post by: cdm on 05 April 2011, 10:22:44 AM
Another box of goodness from Eureka arrived today. I am mostly packed up my house for moving, so no real quality control on my photography I'm afraid. The camera is dieing, and I'm sure I set the ISO wrong as well :(

First up:
Teddy bears
Teddy bears in box crate toy aircraft :) Parts come with teddy bear, main aircraft frame with lower wing, upper wing assembly, propeller, propeller nose cone. Fit is ok, the pin for the nose cone is not tight into the frame, and the propeller is loose as well, so not a 'snap' kit, but perfectly fine. There is no obvious frame to bear joining mechanism. The bear is the same for the bi and tri plane

A Michael Moorcook inspired sci fi vignette
An insectoid warrior with twin blades decapitating a human prisoner. Nicely executed, especially the movement on the human slumping forward. The insectoid does zero for me artistically, and the twin blade to 'hand' junction is a little underdetailed perhaps. There are deep undercuts at play around this area, so probably also understandable.

Beowulf and retainers
Active poses to match the prior casual set. Loose spears and shields are the same as the casual set shown here: http://chronofus.net/php/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=126&start=0 (http://chronofus.net/php/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=126&start=0)

Bathers
Two Victorian era bathers, wild west struck me, but whatever. These complement the prior bathing lady release. Both tubs have a small hole into which the cone on the lady's foot plugs. Fit is adequate.

Strongman Bates and his exploding weights
Assumedly for the Pax Limpopo personalities range. Also very tall at about 32mm eye height

Revolutionary Wars - Napoleonics
More Frenchies for the revolution, their infantry range is almost completish for infantry with these last batches of figures.

Me too, they have a very "I'm too cool" look to them :) Hopefully they will release more pilot variants

What kind of sound does a teddybear airplane make?

The legeres are previewed on their site last I looked http://eurekamin.com.au/news.php?newsid=EFpZZAFkyuJFnSyoli , but not quite officially released. You should be able to order them though before release. I have the full code list on my site at http://chronofus.net/php/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=273 if you need to specify a bit more clearly what you're ordering. The pics are in a separate topic or two, I should get organised sometime I know.

Grey Ghost - Teddy Bear planes make a rooowwwwaaarrrrr sound while wooshing your hand through the air, and a sharp dakka dakka dak when enemy bears are in the sights.

I'm told to expect a new set of pre releases early July, it might contain the new alligator cavalry, I have no idea what else may be in there.

Which figure is Beowulf?

3rd from left in the bottom 2 photos IIRC. The figures themselves are similar to those in the casual group, so you can have a 'resting' and an 'active' pose for the same figure.  :)

Some nice bits and pieces there. Bit disappointed with the Moorcock inspired piece though. The subject deserves far better execution (no pun intended).

I would prefer some less 'static' poses for the FRW (for skirmish game purposes - I have a plan for doing some Song of Drums and Shakos at some point), but, well, you can't get it all...  :)

Argonor,

The skirmish poses work great for SDS-style games. The picture only shows skirmishing elite, but there are skirmishing center company fellows also (as well as a few guys that look like they are charging). I've been told that there will be a set of five "characters" released in July also.
