I’ve always enjoyed walkers, perhaps being young when SW: Empire came out influenced that. As a modeler and gamer, I’m forever looking for cool walker models or minis.
I’ve done conversions of the 1/144 gundam stuff and currently I'm working to build one of my own, but I also happened to come across Micropanzer Wargames Studio of the Slipstream Project. The designer, sculptor, owner has a 15mm LIGHT ASSAULT WARBOT and a 32mm version as well. I’m waiting for an order to arrive but in the meantime decided to drool over some more of his sculpting and concept art. He has a running version of the LAW which looks excellent.
For now, this: http://www.micropanzer.com/index.html
Later, I’ll share my own photos, too.
I’d like to hear what great walkers you’ve seen or got in your collections. When I can, I’ll post pics of all the walkers I have.
Charge!

I came across that micropanzer site before. looks like really cool stuff.
I've got some 28mm Kryomek Walkers :

and I recently was given a Goliath Storm Strider by a friend who found it while cleaning up. (Still unpainted that one)
Also this one's resin whereas the others are metal.
here's a pic so you get an idea of the size :

Really nice images!

A lot more response than I expected to this. I'll need to take notes while I'm browsing because now that I've got to the bottom, I can't recall all the questions I had as I scrolled down.
This though: Chris W., how many of your examples are scratchbuilt? The Ghost in the Shell, the prototype model, and some WWII are not models I've seen before.
Inso, what went into the Twiddlybots?
zizi, is that scale shot with a 15mm or 28mm mini?
Tomsche, what is the thing in your 6mm Diamond Sharks with the dome? (last pic)
-
Galahad AA mech

omnly thing I have to offer
btw, the walker is in the corner bottom left ;)

Tomsche, danke. I'll watch for one for myself.
former user, is that photo taken on the island where you live? Stunning. Walker is interesting, too. ;)
-

The Tiddly-bots are 15mm Spider-drones from GZG (with the guns bent up to act as antennae):

Cheers. I thought they were your own creation. They look like the body could be done with Lego and the legs with careful use of plastic rod.

:-*
Wow!
Some great stuff posted! Cheers!
Now... someone has got to link me or give a tutorial on how you create those digital backgrounds. They look fantastic!
Please!!!!!

zizi, is that scale shot with a 15mm or 28mm mini?
that is a 28mm figure. :D
-
Wow. Not normally my thing, but Wow. Thanks all for sharing.

Hi, most of my models involve some modification. "Full scratch" are all the GitS figures, the sand-colored six-legged one with the rotary cannon, the Heavy Gear Mammoth, and, due to the amount of work involved, Liberty Prime (also some kit parts were used, but amount to but a portion of the whole) and the Tripod.
Others are more or less involved kitbashs. These include the light gears (based on VOTOMs), the police robot (made from various parts, including Kryomek, Grenadier future warriors and GW).
The rest are more or less stock. 3W2 includes West Wind SotTR and Alterra 1 (formerly Sharkit, now sold and under redevelopment, AFAIK), a 1/144 YMS-15 "Gyan" from the Gundam universe; the red bot's from Excalibur Miniatures, the sand one a Future Warriors item. The blueish-grey SF3Dish mechsuit is also a Sharkit model.
-
Wow, fantastic thread! All these walker models are quite lovely. :-* Unfortunately I have nothing to add at the moment, but I hope to be able to in the coming months. ;)

It's great to see some Gundams. Years ago I downloaded a set of rules for playing games with Gundams, but finding enough of the right ones in the right scale is difficult in Australia. All I have is 3 RX-78s, two Zaku IIs and one Zaku II Command Type, all in 1/144.
-
I was hoping to see some of the Kotobukiya Robocop ED-209 walker conversions i have seen int he past. I have yet to recall where it was i saw them. If it was on LAF or not i dont know. :-)

Yje smaller ones are all by the overpresent Bandai, if you go to online stores like Play Asia or Mugen Toys and the likes, look under their gasaphon sections. Usually knock you back around 5 to 8 USD + shipping on average.
Or you might try doing an ebay (I do it through ebay uk, not sure if that matters though) search on `gasaphon gundam`, that`s good for abaout 200 to 300 hits usually.

*Cough*Forum Rule 2.11*Cough*
Anyway, I have one of the "small" Kotobukiyas for my Street Violence Stuff. Since it was only "out of the box" despite some soot painted on, I didn't put it in the above post, as with the Gundams (since they are not 28mm) and small Battlemechs (ditto). To follow up on that:

Inso, i was thinking it was ur Grymm that i saw use for the ED-209 droid.
Am i mistaken? :-)

lol
it is on some volcanic environment, possibly japan - don't really know found it on the net and liked it
the walker is a SW one that usually had some walking mechanism, with some additional bits to balance it better

Sorry to say, I don't own any of the Ed209 minis...they look the part for Grymn and I'd love to own some...but I could never afford the amount I would need to suit my plans...but if anyone is of a similar mind and wanted smaller Ed209 type robots then look no further than Scotia Grendel:

Amazing stuff there. Inso, where are those Tiddly Walkers from?
-
Jeez! I'm not even that much of a Walker fan, but this thread is too good!!!

Here're a few of mine - all from the Kryomek range.

I'm amazed at some of the stuff coming up here. I really like the Kryomech walkers. I can't remember having seen them before this thread.
My Micropanzer walker arrived but I've also started the next session of grad school so I've got to shift my priorities and minis are not high on my list of things to do. My glaug is also more painted but not complete, so it will have to wait free time before finishing. My custom kitbash is still not even primed though I had hoped to do it before resuming classes. :'(
-
brillant stuff now I want to make walker damn

What have we got?...
Tiddly walkers:
Where are these from?

Ground Zero Games 15mm range

It is these ones with the gun barrels bent upwards:

Cheers! They look compatible with 28mm.
-
Here they are based:

In a squad:
I would say that they are perfect for Grymn/Space Dwarf miniatures in 28mm but may be a tiny bit small for standard humans in the same scale...the barrels of the weapons would be very thin. If you used them like I have (guns as aerials) you'd probably get away with it but if you wanted gun-bots you'd need to upgrade the barrels with something a bit more substantial.
-
BOB! I've long thought it would be amusing to build one of those.
-
You know I think those spiders might actually have potential for 6mm dirtside as well.
I myself only have one walker, which is a 1/300 gundam death-scythe hell which I will use when Ganesha games releases Mighty monsters.
-
I'm really digging this thread. Good to see some of the model kits that are being used for gaming. I just posted some pics of some Gundam minis that I'd like to trade off:

Inso, I had never browsed Black Cat Bases since I wasn't really needing any special bases. Oh, what I've missed. They have a great selection of odd and interesting figures. At some point I'll have to place an order. In 5 minutes I just found a good 10 minis I'd love to have. Cheers.

What's that made of? The chassis looks like a MacBook. lol Is it a kit or a scratchbuild?
I have just had an idea for a particularly rare and grim flier to find life as a walker since I couldn't pay postage to send it to a new base of operations.
-
Its an old 1/32 scale vinyl kit. I got it off ebay for about a tenner, it was built and painted. I was going to use it as the base for another Battletech mech but it is waaaaay too big.
