I've been using the Crusader SYW British Infantry for my F&IW regulars and was in need of an officer for my men of the 44th. Unfortunately for me, the command pack is in what I would call European rather than American theatre poses whereas I wanted something a bit more casual and armed with a fusil, as might befit the leader of a small unit on the woodland trail.

So, a conversion was in order. I had a surplus figure from the French command pack who was armed with a pole weapon, I believe that to bottom right in the following link.

Some cutting back, green stuff application and a shortened musket from a Conquest weapon pack and I had the following:

Comments welcome. :)

Amazing mate! You are unafraid to use that green stuff - bravo.

Conversion ??? No surprises there Matey. lol
Another splendid job, up to your usual very high standards. The pose looks very natural ;D

Hi SI,
I think you're pretty safe there. Although it seems to have been a common habit for officers of regulars and provincials to wear the sword belt beneath the waistcoat, I have quite a lot of illustrations among my copious reference sources that show it being worn over the waistcoat in the field (though not as many as show it worn beneath). I'll certainly be showing examples of both on mine.

Fantastic conversion there! Shouldn't he have a belly box to go with his fusil though?
-
Well, appearance should trump functionality any day. I'm sure he lets hit batman handle the messy business of loading the fusil anyway. ;)
