Hi guys and gals,
Having recently returned from a trip to Oxford, I've been inspired to start planning out my Victorian & Georgian buildings for a Gohic Horror game. I have quite a list of scratch-build suppliers, but there are some elements that I can't find on the all-knowing internets - if you guys could help, or advise on scratch-building these things, that would be great!
So, the things I'm really after are Georgian neo-classical friezes and mouldings, the kind of thing you often find over door lintels, depicting classical scenes and family heraldry.
Next up is some small classical statues - these are usually life size and appear in alcoves on large building facades and churches. Usually classical figures, but can vary.
Finally, where can I get ornate gothic windows from? Big spiky ones, of the variety that cathedrals use?
Hope I can get some leads on here - look forward to the attempt anyhow! :-)
Regards,
M

I don't know about the rest, but you can often use figures in place of statues.
Oh, actually, it may be worth looking at dollhouse suppliers for relief stuff. It's made for a larger scale, but sometimes the stuff will work just fine in 28mm.

Might be worth trying Fantascene - they have a few odd bits, mostly mausoleum pieces at present, but if you get Geoff's interest he may branch out.
Coritani do a few architectural pieces, but mostly domes and pillars.

For really fancy pieces you'll likely find you'll have to make your own, and if you need a pile of a certain piece cast them yourself.
The two suppliers I have no hesitantion in recommending are;
http://www.ema-models.co.uk/ (http://www.ema-models.co.uk/)
http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/ (http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/)
Both have some brilliant bits, the first is quite pricey though, while the second isn't. Good Luck!

We do some basic stained glass windows if that is of any help?

another option is to ask me via PM, i can sculpt for you any kind of windows frames!
and if you prefere i can sell you the mould! - much cheaper for a larger project!

Sorry to resurrect my old thread, but I believe I've struck gold on the statues front, and would like to share my findings with anyone who's interested:

Thanks to everyone who posted. Still a little more detective work to do, but I'm getting somewhere!

Strange, I get a menu on the left with all sorts of scales ranging from 1:22,5 up to 1:500 ???

How strange!
Sorry about that - if you type the word 'statue' in the search bar, you'll find what I found.
I just had a rummage to find a direct link to related products, but no joy. The models are in the 1:87 scale range - which according to other online sources is actually more like 1:72, especially the Prieser stuff.
Hope that helps!

There are several doll house sites that also have stuff in 1/4 " scale ( about O-scale ) that will work for most heroic scale stuff. While it is a little large it does work. Since S-scale stuff ( the closest to correct for 28mm ) is extremely hard to find this is probably one of the beter options.

I have used Shapeways in the past for a lot of this type stuff. The basic shapes involved are pretty simple to go through and knock out without much understanding of 3D software.
The last house set that I did (windows, doors, brackets) cost about $12 for the whole set for the house (2 or 3 doors and a handful of windows). They just introduced a new material too that allows for finer details (and is based on an acrylic polymer...so it might be able to be solvent welded to styrene as well). I haven't had a chance to do any tests with it yet - but I am thinking that it should work well enough for doing things like 6 panel doors and the like that are 1 mm thick or close to it.

Shapeways are quite interesting, thanks for the tip-off.
I've been really impressed by Thomarilion's new Victorian stuff: moulded Victorian doors! http://www.thomarillion.de/index.php?seite=katalog&modell=stadthaustuer1_&pos=1&sprache=gb_
But my best find since I started researching this is 'Reality in Scale'. Some of their stuff is too big at 1/35 scale, but other parts work well. Pricey, but certainly the best materials I've found: http://www.realityinscale.com

sounds VERY interesting: do you have any pic, maybe with some closeup for the details and surfaces? :)
cheers,
