...or don't you see any point in doing so?
-
Always.
-
Yes, especcially when using Coat D`Arms as they have rather nice effect, but metallic pigment heavy colours like Enchanted Blue.
-
Every now and then I sort and clean my brushes and keep a few aside for metallics, but they always seem to get mixed up with othr brushes. I tend to find I favour one or two brushes that work for me irrespective of the paint.
I have good intentions!.......
-
No - I do give them a good wash with soap and water and change the water pot after using metallics though. Havn't had any issues doing that so far.
Same goes for varnishes.

Nope. Metallics are always done last with my minis and my brushes always get a good cleaning between batches of minis.
-
of course metallics stain the other paints very easily,
but one has to clean brushes continuously all the time,
so there is no point, at least not for me

Yep, same for me, the last bits to do on the figures are always the metallics. The water jar and brushes then get a thorough clean.

Life is too short :)
I too tend to favour particular brushes and use them until they die and change to a new one.
-
I even keep separate pots for metallic brushes and other. Metallic granules are just murder for black pint.
-
I don't bother with any of this malarky, I paint metallics with the same brush I paint everything else with, use the same water and intersperse my metallic applications with normal paint willy-nilly.
I haven't noticed any problems.
Still, quantity over quality is my watch word :D
-
I've had problems in the past with metal sparkly flakes getting into washes and making a mess, so I do have separate brushes and a seperate water cup and palette for metallics. Could be overkill, but I never have to worry about it again.
-
Same brushes but diffrent water/rinse cups, metallic pigments end up in my washes otherwise.
-
Nope, just 2 different jars for rinsing the brushes.
-
Yes, since I mix my own metallics with powdered aluminum, bronze and linseed oil.
Brushes won't survive otherwise. :'(
-
Same brushes but a different water pot and I clean the brush with white spirit after.
-
Separate brushes.
After I've painted the figure's base I then do the metallics. Then I reapply the black undercoat wherever the metallic paint has strayed over the line. Nothing worse than seeing a tiny glint of a rogue metallic flake on a non-metallic part of the figure.
Once metallics are completely dry I move on to the rest of the figure. Rarely during the same painting session.
-
Separate water for me (if I remember ;D )
cheers

And what kind of brush would that be? A toilet brush? lol
-
toilet brushes are handy for applying strokes of dirt ;)
