Gents,
the South Somerset Wargames Group are putting on a VSF, GASLIGHT BATTLES, game at Bovington on 2/3 Jul 11. "Something Queer happend on the way to Yeovil", is based on the action by elements of the Somerset Yeomanry to hold the invading Prussians at the Beauminster Railway Tunnel. As it is Bovington it will be armour heavy, with the Yeomanry assisted by the Experimental Conveyance Unit (Bovington) and the Naval Lighter than Air Sqn (Yeovilton)
It is a good show, wargames in the presence and smell of armour!!

participation or display?
-
It is being put on as a display game, but there will always be room for an extra commander or two!
-
Arrrh, how disappointing I have just, checked the diary and we have a family party that day :(
I expect lots of photos to show me what I missed ;)
-
No such problems here. Its my local event, so I should be able to make it on one day.
-
Oh no! It's a month too early. I'll be in south Devon on my hols around the end of July and am planning to take my son to Bovington for a day out. It would have been great to combine the show with our visit :(
I hope you have a great time and it all goes well!

Lots of pics please Nick!!!

Lots of pics please Nick!!!
of the game or of the world's best tank collection? ;)
-
Dave,
I suspect the game, Moosey has probably spent enough time repairing big, heavy, smelly. dirty, broken down tanks!!

plenty of interest from the public and gamers alike, the Prussians did not manage to push much further North of the Berminster railtunnel!

Wow! :-* :-* :-* :-*

Having seen the game 'live' on Saturday, I can confirme that it looked even better than the photos show.
Bovington is a great show; with lots of games, a good selection of traders and TANKS! Maybe next year we should have a LAF expedition top see it. Many gamers camp overnight at Bovington (I saw they had some casks of ale racked up for the evening), so it would make for a great social weekend. If the Antwerp gamers could make it over for the show, I'm sure that we could!
The only downside to the show was that I spent too much .... I can resist anything but temptation!!!

Some really great VSF goodness there! A fantastic setup!
Really like the variety of units. Must have been a fun day!
Thanks for the photos! :-* :-*

So many fliers! Great looking game

I shall forgo my usual *cough* aeronef sticky *cough*, and state that looked like a smashing time! As the B-17 captain in Tora Tora Tora stated, upon seeing the sky over Oahu full of planes, 'What the hell kind of traffic control is this?'
I am curious about the blue beast; I think I can make out parts, but if the constructor could be talked into coming here with recipe, I, for one, would be grateful!
Ditto the spider/walker. Edit: Nevermind; just at Ramshackle Games for something else... ;->=

Great pictures.
Playing wargames next to German tanks must be a great feeling.

The Zeppelin is from a Revell kit, with a gonola, wings and bits from an Atlantis toy, crew from Eureka held together with some clear plastric rod which also acts as the stack,

That's a nice size for gaming - big enough to look impressive yet small enough to be practical to use 8)
