Well, no-one else seems to make any decent ones so I thought I'd have ago and what do you know.....I didn't succeed either :'( Anyway, first humanoid sculpt based on a GW skeleton, hence the pose and hands......

Kind of based on my childhood action man version but without memory :` Next attempt will involve some research.......

Looks pretty good to me. I think you're being a little harsh on yourself.
HLBSC made some nice ones:

They did some with weapons as well as tools. However, I am unsure as to their availability. HLBSC sold off some of their ranges to other firms, and I don't know where (if anywhere) these ended up.
