Difficult choice! :o
-
Ouch, I've been fearing this...
-
Yowsa! Talk about a battle of the titans...! :-*
-
Yeah...this is brutal!
Frank has the ability to make you feel like part of the action...and hammers painting and scenery are always great...wonderful work boys!

I promised myself that I wouldn't comment on any entries this year (voted for each and every one though :) ), but I have to say, that anjin-san is a brilliant idea 8) 8) 8)
cheers

Frank is stepping it up! :o

The cream is rising....

Top job Frank Sama, Hai! (http://i53.tinypic.com/2ui9ffk.jpg)
Also outstanding Hammers, but Shogun! ;D
-
Ooooh! Richard Chamberlain or Tintin! Decisions decisions...
-
The clash of Titans. I love the Shogun-Novell, and Franks scene looks like right out of the movie, with Chamberlain´s undestroyable haircut. Hammers, this time I can´t give you my vote mate!

Believe me, I understand. Frank's got the lighting just so to...

Two rounds to soon though lol

You mean Frank's entry? It would be disqualified for bonus points. Cptn Blood has been quite emphatic about Made-For-TV films not counting.
-
Nah, I meant the `Clash of Giants`
-
Very tough indeed, both are just awesome! 8)
-
Ah. Yeah, well, rounds 7 to 10 are top ten matched rounds so it is expected. I've been secretly dreading being paired with Frank since round 2 since he's been my over all favourite throughout this LPL. I was apparently right in fearing it.
-
John Blackthorne! Lovely miniature Frank :)
-
Tough choice, but I ended up voting for the Cigars because of the extensive conversions and customization. Thematically, I have to say I prefer Shogun to TinTin (I eagerly waited for Shogun to be run on TV, before the days of VCR!) but I don't vote on something just because I prefer the subject matter. None-the-less, great work on both entries guys.

I have to do a shoutout to my pal Svenn who did the Ki-Oskh transfers for me. Peace, man. They are not quite bonafide as they are supposed to be yellow. Tricky colour to get right in transfers so we settled for a black on a painted yellow field instead.
-
Ouch, indeed an awesome match-up! Frank really seems to have the most awesome, grandest collection of scenery, and he uses it well. Hammers has the most awesome, grandest collection of ideas and uses it well as well. I didn't really recognise the tin-tin scene so I guess that cost Hammers another vote. Sorry, but I do love your entry!

Ouch, I've been fearing this...
I had the same feelings... :)
...and actually this one was my round 10 contribution, before I found out about this TV restriction. :'(
-
The Anjin-San vignette evokes something right out of a movie. Brilliant!
-
There have been some tough match-ups in the league so far, but this is the toughest - brilliant work in both entries.
-
Both are outstanding, but I have to go with Frank's for the reasons of Stunning painting, idea and layout and Shogun is my favourite book of all time! Your best yet Frank and that's saying a lot! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

A really hard one to vote on this. Both are great pieces very well done.
-
Frank, are you digitally blending your bases into the scene (the way the Perrys do in their tutorial), imbedding the figures in loose basing material, or pinning them in place, or some other method? I'm curious about how you achieve the seamless look you are getting.

Yes, good question. I would also be interested how much digital voodoo is involved, if at all?
Hammers, just brilliant idea and execution. Could you tell a bit about those mummy conversions?
Both entries are smashing, and for me the hardest match of the entire LPL season 5.
:-*
-
I love the heads on the mummies. I was half expecting to see the man & dog in a sarcophagus with all those conversions.
The Shogun scene is just too good. From the detail on the figures to the scene itself. Fantastic.
-
Meant to ask Frank
Who makes the Anjin-san/Richard Chamberlain figure?
-
@Dr. Mathias: I use more or less the same method as the Perry's in their tutorial...so, it is done with Photoshop. I use the stamp tool and the whole things is only a matter of 5 minutes. 8)
@Gamer Mac: The miniature of Anjin-San is a head-conversion. I have used the head of the TACTICA 2010 miniature (http://www.hamburger-tactica.de/tactica/pages/tactica2010.html ) and the rest is a Perry mini.

Thanks
He is the spitting image.

Yes, it is very good.

That's what swung it for me. I'm a big Tin Tin fan but the Blackthone won it in the end :)
cheers

The sarcophagi are blatant resin recasts of a purchased item. I modelled it with a integrated, beheaded mummy before I made the mould. The heads, which were painted separaterly, are Woodbine (pith helmet), Sloppy Jalopy and one Fezèd head cut from a Brigade mini. Some of them got greenstuff beards and mustachios to add some fin de siecle look to some of the Egyptologists. The wonders of resin casting... Once you get the hang of it, it's but a moments work. I think it took me 6 hrs effective time during two days to get that going, including painting.
Looking at the composition now and comparing with Frank's I realize I would have gotten away with including more of the frescoes. The wall is built around three rather wonderful Monolith ancient Egypt frescoes surrounding the glyph of Pharao Ki'Oskh which I carved myself. Just the lower part of this, feet and oxen, can be seen in the image. I had initial plans of painting and antiquating them rather lavishly but test photography gave me impression I would have to pull away to far to get fit them into the pic. I was (am) also rather happy with the zenith spray painting (AP Tan on a Leather Brown base) of the stone wall. Quick , simple and it looks convincing IRL, the pharao and his mate really pops. So I went for a subtle hint in the photo, thinking it enough.

:o
:o
Both are Fantastic,
But I've been a Clavel fan since Shogun was on TV the first time.
-
Congratulations to both as they both deserve a gong
This is why the LPL is such an attraction
Thank you gents
-
Ouch, another one, two, to say the least, fantastic entries. I find it very hard to vote when it ends up like this!
-
I sit here in awe humbled at the feet of masters :o
Wowser seems to sum it up - fantastic work both of you - no shame in loosing this one whoever wins
Now to vote for :?
-
Congratulations, Frank! It is not hard to loose a winning streak to such an excellent entry. I really thought I came up with a crowd pleaser with this one but when you're up against a master, you're up against a master.
-
Thank you Hammers! Such a compliment from a LPL veteran means a lot me. I really enjoy your fantastic work and your great ideas.
