Title: Greetings from Oxford
Post by: d(sqrt(-1)) on 03 May 2011, 03:39:00 PM
Hi,

Finally got round to registering after lurking for a while. I've become interested in Colonial wargaming over the past year (it was Gary Chalk's campaign of "Wilkinson vs the Slavers" in Wargames Illustrated April 2010 that started me off). I've not done much wargaming for some years; I used to do Napoleonic and WW2, but am also into RPGs and boardgames. House is full; you know the story! I've been through "Scramble for Africa", Tim Jeal's bio of Livingstone, Michael Asher's Khartoum, and am currently reading "Victoria's Wars" by Saul David.

So, I recently decided to get back in, picked up some Foundry and Copplestone figures and am working my way through painting them (_really_ out of practice!). I've got "In the Heart of Africa" + Army Lists, "Death in the Dark Continent", "A Good Dusting", waiting for Triumph and Tragedy at the moment. Looking forward to having a trial game once I've got some minimal forces together.

Mark

Welcome,

Some outstanding colonial games get shown on the forum. There is a list to work through  but be prepared to spend the next couple of hours staring open mouthed at the screen.

Thanks. I've noticed some of the photos on the forum - there's certainly some pretty talented people out there!
