I think there might be a couple of games in this, whether it be Gothic Horror, Swashbuckling Adventure, or simply Fantasy.

I hate to break it to you, but you do realize this is aimed at the teenage girl crowd that was going mad over those twilight movies?
You know the whole two guys and their bad for her cliché.
I do hear it has some very nice use of symbolism and the music does seem to be decent enough near the end of that so who knows, might be worth a watch with the girlfriend.

I wasn't so much thinking of the movie itself, but more the twist of the story. I think it could be used as the base for some linked scenarios.

Oh yes, but then isn't werewolf hunting in a remote village one of those classics? Still who knows the movie might have some nice idea's for it still.
Actually there is a very interesting group card game which is based around the idea, with many different role cards such as werewolf, hunter, village elder, all which different "powers" such as protecting one player from attack for a turn, or viewing one other players card. At the end of every round players would vote on who they think the wolf is and that player would get "lynched" I'm not doing it any justice but the point is it might be a good inspiration for such a game, at least for giving the village people some power or skill instead of having them all be cannon fodder.

Okay, the setting is nice, the actors are bad (and we are talking B A D!), the music sucks big time ( sorry - fantasy and pop music just don't go together) and yes, the movie is some kind of Twilight clone. My wife and me thought we'd watch it, hoping to get something along the line of sleepy hollow/the village/Brothers Grimm. But when we saw that the directress of the movie is the same lady who directed the worst movie in the world (a.k.a. Twilight) we knew we had made a "BIIIIG Mistake!"
According to my wife it's not as bad as Twilight but cutting it very close...
Still, the setting and script had some potential.

Ah yes, I played that for the first time a couple weeks ago. Good fun. :)

I think Angela Carter usedthe Little Red Riding Hood setting much better in 'In the Company of Wolves'. And the film was pretty good too.

Of course - I was thinking character/story driven games in the style of, for instance, .45 Adventure with a few minis controlled by each player, a small group of outsiders (adventurers/investigators/hunters), maybe the Inquisition, one player or game maste controlling the Werewolf, clues/tasks to be found/solved to get to othe next scenario, and so on.

There the card came might be of inspiration, randomly handing out stat card and associated miniatures to players, each with its own stats and skills might be great fun. Then the player who has the werewolf miniature might play his characters as associates of the werewolf running interference and distracting people. I say that might be a darn fun game actually!

GREAT IDEA!
I would love to have Amanda Seyfried at my games table anytime!!! ;D

+ 1
My girlfriend's hatred for the Twilight series knows no bounds.
My only gripe is that it dares to use the name of a brilliant little range of miniatures and setting by Hasslefree.
This film looks like it's geared towards the Twilight crowd.

An interesting conversation I must say! Definitely not the best movie of all time, though the landscapes were amazing. The village is a good source of inspiration also - I think a nice gaming table could come out of something like that.
The two dudes after Amanda's character, can't remember her name, were a little too corny for my liking (hair gel in remote mountain village, anyone?) but some good action scenes, especially with the werewolf, all the same. Could make for an interesting game.
Argonor: maybe, if you're planning on using .45 Adventures, the different parties could all be "searching" for the werewolf, but in reality one of them is hiding the creature. But none of the players knows which party has the werewolf (not even the one that has it). Then find some sort of mechanism for figuring out who it is during the game ... hmm, just some food for thought ...

I liked the setting alright. Lots of things were just the way they should be - except the main characters, their actors and the main plot line. The rest was cool.

Agreed!

Hm, am I the only person who thinks her eyes are a little... gollum-like?

Don't start holding your breath yet it my little company Fiendish Fabrications has been working on a game something along these lines for a while now. Play test will start soon and the game should be released by the end of the year. The working title is After Dark.

Looks just like Brothers Grimm...

Didn't even have to be set from the start - an encounter-marker could state that the character searching it is actually the werewolf lol
