Title: 20mm BUF - After 2 years another update!
Post by: Gunbird on 08 May 2011, 11:03:59 AM
5 layers of matte and still satin, GW Gloss spraycan be damned! Oh well.

My BUF alter ego and his aid and driver. No names yet. Car is in the shop too.

Left (me!) is a Britannia model, the one on the right is a Battlefield model. I like irony, as they are both soviets! I gave myself a pair of glasses but that was it. Armbands came out pretty good too. And I drink my tea with 1 sugar and a dash of milk, thank you.

Nice stuff ... although I didn't know Anton Mussert wore specs. Or perhaps it's Jan Baars looking for not -so-stony ground. I've never seen a photo of Baars, but Mussert yes...

got one of Baars?

Nope, never seen one of Baars either. But you do realise he quit the NSB quite early, then even oppposed Mussert, before leaving politics all together in 1936? So he should not even be around  ;)

Yes but where better for a disillusioned Nederlander, with enemies in low places, to retire than England? Worthing might suit him and that town was big in Blackshirt circles.

Time to feed my yearly-or-so VBCW habit. Having recently aquired 20mm scale BUF decals (Thx Taylor!) I thought it was time to get the ride done, plus some escorts.

Prelimanary work sofar:
Propaganda car with scratchbuilt speakers (recycled Vickers Light tank cuppolas)
(http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j17/wayswatcher/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/Propaganda1_zps47a5250a.jpg) (http://s76.photobucket.com/user/wayswatcher/media/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/Propaganda1_zps47a5250a.jpg.html)
(http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j17/wayswatcher/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/Propaganda2_zpse9563fa5.jpg) (http://s76.photobucket.com/user/wayswatcher/media/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/Propaganda2_zpse9563fa5.jpg.html)

And 2 escort Vickers Light tanks with twin MG's
(http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j17/wayswatcher/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/VickersLight_zps63a78004.jpg) (http://s76.photobucket.com/user/wayswatcher/media/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/VickersLight_zps63a78004.jpg.html)

I'm thinking the main colour for these will be grey, but lighter then German grey. Must do a few tests before I decide. Maybe even a camo job.

Looks very promising. What scheme were you thinking of?

Plain battleship grey with dark green chipping, like they overpainted army vehicles. I propably won't bother with camo on these. I think.

Hmm - thanks for the idea wayswatcher. I have some vehicles that I'll paint with heavy weathering/chipping and then apply clean (ie recenty added) bands of black with the BUF logo on the turret.

The loudhailer car's inspired!!!

Away from the battlefield it'll be for street propaganda of course, but on the battlefield presumably it'll be blaring our some Wagner?   :D

Can't make up my mind

Either go fascist black (gloss naturally)
(http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j17/wayswatcher/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/CarBUFblack_zps431af015.jpg) (http://s76.photobucket.com/user/wayswatcher/media/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/CarBUFblack_zps431af015.jpg.html)

Grey like the rest of the vehicles to tie it in
(http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j17/wayswatcher/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/CarBUFGrey_zps8b28e803.jpg) (http://s76.photobucket.com/user/wayswatcher/media/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/CarBUFGrey_zps8b28e803.jpg.html)

Or just a commandeered civil car
(http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j17/wayswatcher/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/CarBUFRed-Black_zps40048c81.jpg) (http://s76.photobucket.com/user/wayswatcher/media/20mm/20mm%20VBCW/CarBUFRed-Black_zps40048c81.jpg.html)

I have no set use for it planned, it might as well be a recce car, or the commanders car, or a car that gives a bonus to everything in x range so it can be many, many things.

What do you think?
