Title: Looking for Pulp Pilot in 28mm
Post by: Amalric on 25 May 2011, 10:01:14 PM
I am looking for a 30's/40's Pulp/US Air Corps-ish pilot figure, similar to the Jake from tales from the golden monkey pic below, that will size well with Artizan and Pulp minis;

ie a Handsome heroic pilot wearing a cool A2 style flight jacket, chinos and a crusher style cap.
Holding or wearing a pistol would be a plus.

Unfortunately, most pilots I've found seem to be in flying caps and trench coats.

This one by artizan is close,

but just doesn't do it for me.
It's the head, I could do a head swap but would prefer not to.

The Buzz Iland Hoppers by Pulp is close, but...;

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Hmmm quite a tall order but I imagine a solution will turn up.

From the title I thought the copplestone ones might do... spesh. as you can have the same fig in a plane as well as on a base...

But having read your spec. I'm a little off target.

Dixons do some WW2 SAS with a chap who might work;

Ebob POW figs might be worth a look

Pilots for pulp are hard to come by.  Old Glory has WWI pilots the American pack might have one suitable if you can find a photo.  Ebob has a pack of figures from the Great Escape Steve Mcqueen's figure might work, although he has a baseball glove in hand.

Thanks all.

I've looked at the Ebob POW range and once again am being finicky, the prisoners just doesn't do it for me.

I had forgotten about those heads by Empress, they just might do the trick, as it seems that good bodies are easier to find than the heads.

we have forgotten that one from Artizan, Cpt Haggan. Nothing to do, just paint it

nervisfr, as I mentioned in my OP, I don't care for that figs head. I normally love Artizan's stuff, but that one just doens't do it for me. Thanks though.

Blackwolf, I look forward to seeing your Grumman Goose finished. I'm not actually doing up a Jake figure, but the character of Jake has the look I'm hoping to achieve if that makes any sense.

How about this guy from Reaper?

He comes with 3 heads and arms variants.
Click the little photos above the main photo to see them.

DS615, thanks for the info about the reaper fig. I also asked this question over on TMP;
http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=231784 (http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=231784)
and one of the first suggestions was the reaper one.
The bloke who suggested it over on TMP also posted pics of the one he painted up.

Thanks
