After long time lurking I though it was about time I got round to posting. Looking for some terrain items to go with my Perry Burgundians I thought I'd have a go at creating a building based on one I'd seen in Burgundy. The build is finished and ready for undercoating, construction is foamcore, balsa, pink foam and polystyrene pizza bases. If anyone is interested I will add some more pictures once I start slapping the paint on. Thanks for looking.

Lovely job :-* :-*
Full of character.
Looking forward to the painted pics.

some pics of the buildup would definitly be appreciated. (as will those of the paint job)

cheers

Thanks so much for the comments guys, much appreciated.
The roof tiles are made from very thin strips of balsa laid along the horizontal of roof with the detail carved on after. I've found it be less time consuming than laying individual tiles.
The pictures below are of the initial construction of the prototype (yes this one is the second attempt!), showing how I got the curve thanks to a wine cork, as well as the inspiration for the build.

Looks fabulous, how did you do the irregular texture on the walls between the frames? ;D

The last one is so real you could live in it! :o
Seriously, you make it look so easy that I forgot how hard it is! :o

Awesome! Looks like a fine example to be cast in resin :)
-
Superb :-* looking forward to seeing more and the good Captain says, show us your Burgundians :)

Just starting to contemplate some similar Middle European/Old English style buildings for ECW/TYW and pulp, and this is very inspirational!
The half-timbering is fiddly, but of course it doesn't have to be perfect, the real stuff is irregular as well.
-
You should've cast that before painting. I bet you could sell a fair few.
-
Thats Fantastic :-* :-* :-* :-*

Hi, slow going because I'm a slow painter :D but thought I'd show a couple of wip pics. Roof done, timberwork done, infil in the half timbering ... progressing.
thanks for looking

Great work, both build and wip painting! :) The only thing I would have left out is that line of stones on the bottom of the first story walls to resemble to picture a bit more. But that is a tiny suggestion and I'd be more than happy to have such a beautiful piece of terrain on my table. The winding stairs look simply amazing both in your execution and the original. :) Sometimes reality is even cuter than fantasy. :D

Very nice muted colours there 8) :-*
cheers

Fabulous work. May I presume that the cork came from a bottle of Burgundy?

Fantastic! I had to look twice, I couldn't believe it wasn't a resin model. Nice work! :-*
-
Really very nice. Well done.
Want one.
Now build the rest of the town ;)
-
That's an outstanding build you've achieved - well done. I keep meaning to build a copy of buildings based on some fave architectual gem but still haven't got around to it.

Quite simply- Amazing!
