Title: Building my Indiana Jones Pulp Figure Set
Post by: Tri3 on September 08, 2006, 01:00:27 PM
Well I just won the Tank from Inidana Jones film.

If you do an Ebay search for "Indiana Tank"  you can usually find a few for sale.

I also found some really good Indiana Jones figures.  Artizan makes a really good one as well as Copplestone.

Artizan's Kentucky Davis (Can be found in the Artizan's Thrilling Tales Miniatures)

Copplestone has a really good one (Can be found in the High Adventure American Adventurers)

They also have the cool Armed Archeolgists.

The guy on the far right is perfect for Brendan Fraser (aka Rick O'Connell) from the Mummy's return

Pulp Figures has one as well.  IMO it isn't as good a sculpt.

Rugged Heroes 1
(http://www.pulpfigures.com/catalog/php2.jpg)

Oh and well who wouldn't want a nice looking Laura Croft (OK so she isn't exactly pulp era).

Lara C. Jones Archeologist 2 from shadow forge

Now for some bad guys.

This guy makes a perfect Tomb King

The figure was created for the Void Range.  I believe Grendal/Kryomek has the mold.  I could be wrong.

Crocodile Games makes a nice figure and relic (The Ark) called the Priest of Aten (Aegyptus - Asar)

He would be perfect for Arnold Vosloo (aka Imhotep, High priest of Osiris)

Reaper makes a really good mummy (Mummy of Hakir)

For German Badies you have to go back to Artizan Designs and the Thrilling tales series.

if you want to go against the Thuggee(sp?), some indian civilians will be needed!  Eureka has got the best, I've got them all and they are lovely.

They also have some nice middle eastern ones too in the previous page.

For all you guys out there who want to play Germans in there games :
Listen please !
You need cooler names for your Germans.

Since I was on a schoolexchange in England 1983 I am tired of Claus, Otto, Hans, Fritz and such...
Achtung Hans Spitfire auf Nine Uhren ....
Otto, Claus and the von`s Soundso are worn out....

Wait a second. I peek in my phone book  :)

von Strelitz
Oberst Walther von Hünersdorf  ( real Oberst from ww2 )

Major / Hauptmann / Leutnant  : Buchholz, Nieman, Michaelis, Ranziger, Scheibert, Querengässer,Reutemann, Heydebreck

Unteroffizier / Gefreiter / Schütze : Küchenast, Hundsdorf, Freier, Maurer, Becker, Kerner, Philipp, Wiesel, Fuchs, Schneider, Zimmermann, Rossberg, Bäke, Müller, Clausen, Baumann, Petersen !

In case you need more names. Please ask  :)

Auf Wiedersehen !

For my NUTS! and Weird War figures I have given them all first names. Some of the first names I have used are pretty standard:

Claus
Hans
Ernst

But I have some more original names:

Ruben
Bodo (I had a German university professor named Bodo Bartning)
Udo (as in Udo Erasmus)
Harmut
Ingo
Augustus (As in Augustus Klump)
Jakob

But I would love some good first name suggestions! I have a whole platoons worth of names to give!

Thanks for the info!

I like especially Bero, the old-german name, means "Bear". The old word "bero" means the eldest man of the clan.

Obviously you've spotted that the English speaking world can only remember about four actual German names. Apparently we can't even go the the trouble of, say, looking up the players in the German football team.

However, if you ask an Anglo wargamer or RPGer to come up with a name for a Viking character, it's even worse. Olaf. Ulf. Wulf. Ragnar. Olaf. Olaf. Did I mention Olaf?

Great selection of figures, by the way. I use an old Ral Partha female figure in a leather jacket and boots as Marion Ravenwood, and the appropriate Pulp figures for Dr Jones Sr and Short Round. My Jones family group rides around together in my games -- H

@ Neldoreth
The fornames you chose are really cool. I think you can nearly chose any forename. Hans, Fritz, Otto, Klaus, Adolf were popular names in the past.

If I give you the names of my Grandfather and his three brothers you will see that they sound familiar to you. I heard them in  England and the States before.

Walter, Hugo, Max and Kurt.

You can also chose Thomas, Bernd, Dieter, Erich, Johann, Alfred, Bert, Nils, Wolfgang, Heinrich, Helmut, Egon.

Now Iam going to the pulp game event. All of you a nice weekend.

Cheers
Björn

The Oberst Von Stropp mini above looks perfect as Indy in nazi-disguise to me. The facial features seems to have been modeled after Harrison Ford, even.

Cheers, Hagen

PS: my family name is not 'von Falkenheim' (and BTW I hardly ever run around with a swastika on my sleeve!)

Hey Cool Indy Tank!  What scale is it?
Alternatively - what are the dimensions of the tank?  I can compare it with the Brigade Games one that I have (supposedly 1/56)

That's my question, too!
"Micro action" sounds small but I read somewhere the playset figures (painted plastic miniatures) are 1''.
I have already the "original" tank, not finished yet, but for sure it's a good piece of work to make it looking the "Indy" way.

I got the tank yesterday.  I was a little concerned with the "Micro Action" term as well.  I am happy to say though it fits in perfectly with my 25/28mm figures.  I will see if I can take a picture with some figures next to it.  I got to say the tank is pretty sweet.  It is already pre-painted and looks perfect for game play.  It originally cost $6, but they are selling on Ebay for around $20-$25.  Still it is worth it to have one of these suckers.
