Howdy all... :)
Well...to fuel the WK dwarf lust a bit more...I finally finished two of the 2nd Release dwarfs that WK was kind enough to share with me...I was very excited that a couple of armored and helmeted options were included as I think this is one area the Marauder Pikes were lacking...and here they are:

More pics...including another comparison shot available at my Blog (see my signature)
More painted versions to come in the next few days...including some 3rd release poses... ;D
Cheers,

NO! - what have you done to them - told you to send them over here so I could fix it for you and save you ass ;D
Nah, kidding of course - just jealous that you already got these gems, that it really.
As always, you did great. Fantastic colours and executed in your usual high standard. My hat goes of to you, my friend
-
As I said elsewhere, they look amazing and the colours suit them very well. 8)

Nice!!
-
Very vivid blues and reds - lovely! 8)
-
Great stuff blue! Especially like the wood grain effect on the spears!

Ahh the Karl Franz's own Altdorf Dwarven Volnteer Regiment.. very nice, excellent painting. I honestly think to some extent Marauder has been reborn in it's hey day. Just need to persuade WK to make some marauder style human civilians now..
-
Lovely painting as ever, Blue.

Now that's a good idea - are you listening, White Knight? :D
-
No, but I'm reading.
My thoughts do occasionally dwell to other races, but currently the dwarfs and goblins are all I can manage. Maybe further down the line.
-
8) I shall keep my eyes open, then :D
-
those minis just ooze charecter, I might have to get some for myself.
Nice paintjobs there fella
-
Thanks all for the kind words...but I have to say that the figures do half the work here...John Pickford has really done an spectacular job of bringing WK's vision into reality here...and the amount of variability possible with all the head/body/weapon combos is quite amazing...I must have spent 2 hours trying different heads on bodies...mixing heads from the different releases and just imagining whole units of these guys on the table top.
Cheers,

VERY COOL Little Guys & BEAUTIFULLY painted! I love your choice of colors; the way you did your metallic pieces, & the woodwork on the spears...VERY WELL DONE!

A man must have his priorities straight...Dwarves & GOBLINS are wise choices.

I agree and especially like the wooden texture at the shaft of this upper dwarf (pic on the left side)! Longing to see the whole regiment, if there is one (memo: must check the blog)
Did You get these texture just by bravery and accident or willpower and a steady hand? Was it meant that way or pure luck? Whenever I try these lines I horribly fail with wooden texture on smooth surfaces.

:-* Luvverly paintwork, just as I made up my mind to chuck my dwarf collection on ebay you put these up! ::)

lol lol thanks...The wood grain is a bit of all the things you mentioned (but probably mostly luck!), To do wood grain I will often wet my brush and pinch it flat to get a very thin spatula shape...then dip in paint and wipe most of it of so only the tips of the bristles retain some...then just go for. try not to make the lines too straight....or too curvy....somewhere in between is best... ;D and have them overlap each other a bit. Go for a more dramatic contrast than you would normally as well.
I hope that makes some sense.

Howdy all!
I was finally able to finish up a couple more of WK's excellent dwarfs and thought I would share the results with you. Where the last two I posted will be worked into my existing (and ever expanding) pike block these two are the start of completely new units. This fact allowed me to be a little more adventurous with my head choices and I picked two particularly interesting options. Anyway here they are let me know what you think.

Ooooh. Love the new green and blue colour scheme and the head on that one.
The other one looks good too. Feather's almost as tall as him. :)
-
excellent colour-matching! Really nice little fellows!
However, I like to grumble a bit about something (on a VERY high level, though!) ...
It seems You are painting the miniature from top to base in the same brightness (no matter the colour) - with no paying attention to having the miniature lighter at the top, than at the base, right? Maybe it is for the pictures (they often tend to swallow things ... buggers), maybe it is ment that way or maybe You couldn't change right in the middle of a project. But I think it would be another step to breathtaking miniatures!
In addition I like to add, that from a certain point of painting skill, pictures tend to look "worse", than the actual mini (where as upto this certain level, pictures look better, than its original ^^) - and since You're obviously BEYOND that level, Your's sure look astonishing all the more in real!

I am certainly liking these Dwarfs - are they actually slotta-based or do they glue flat onto the square bases?
-
They are slottabased, but if you'd want to remove the slot, it shouldn't be too hard with some bending.

Alright...the "real" world has finally allowed me enough time to finish up the two front rank dwarf figures that WK was kind enough to share with me. These included the Plug in Sword and Shield and the Pike....The shield Icon took forever and involved removing paint from the shield at least 3 times...its still not perfect but I couldn't look at it any more... o_o
Here they are:

They both look great, but that shield is spesh! 8) :o
-
That shield is amazing :-* You must have gone half blind doing that - I know I would have, and it still wouldn't look as good. I doff my flamboyant puffed and slashed hat to you, sir!
-
Truly amazing work 8)
-
Stunning :)
And like others already said that shield ....! ;D Excellent freehand and certainly worth waiting for.
So what's next?
-
I have to concur - that freehand shield is awesome.
