Just about to be released and I was wondering.....
Usefull for the RCW?
Darrell.
-
Yes.
-
Most certainly! Well Whites anyway. Hopefully they will do command advancing in overcoats and fur hats as well...and a matching maxim.
-
Very nice minis! I'd forgotten about Musketeer after their long hiatus getting these guys out, but it looks like the final product was worth the wait.
They're certainly useful for RCW to answer your question. You can use them right out of the box for Whites, while for Reds you'd just need to shave off the shoulderboards and cockades.
-
These have a lot of uses. Nice!! :-*
-
Thanks chaps. I was thinking of using them in the Archangel theatre as maybe Whites but I wanted to check anyway.
I was also thinking of converting some of the GWM Brits in Cold Weather gear into Whites too- well, converting their foot attire anyway :). All based on the photo in the Osprey RCW Essential History of Whites in British clobber barr thier 'jackboots'. Does this sound OK?

Hi.
Here are some pictures of reconstructions White Army soldiers in the north of Russia - in British uniform.
You can see that shoes do not have to redo. Just draw a Russian insignia.
If you want to - you can replace the British rifles to the Russian. But it will be a bit troublesome.

Splendid pictures as usual Cuprum. The Northern Whites are probably the only White force that I'm not very familiar with.
-
Great stuff 8).
All very usefull info. I'll post pics of the units as soon as they get a lick of paint.

can be used against ex HLBS british/Canadians in winter gear now available by Tiger miniatures:

I do not have any musketeer minis. I think that they are not compatible with the Copplestone etc.

Thanks for that. i was thinking of using them with Brigade Games range for the Polar Bear mission. Problem is that it isn't a very extensive range. No heavy machine guns etc so some conversion work would be necessary anyway.

They would probably sit in different units so i'm not all that concerned. I'll give Darren a ring and ask if he can send me up a sample or two.

I don't know about the Russian range but I have some of their Brits. They are exquisite sculpts, but some of the smallest in my Great War collection. They would look like hobbits next to Copplestone figures.

I hate to gainsay you Mr Plynkes, but on this you are mistaken. I have several of Bill's other WWI Russians, and they are completely compatible with the Copplestone Castings. These were not Paul Hicks sculpts, as much as I like his work sadly his stuff isn't compatible, I think Musketeer Bill did these himself. They would go great with Mark Copplestone's figures, the ones I have certainly do.
-
That's cool. Like I said, I don't have the Russians, only the Brits, which are small. :)
Who would have thought the same firm's minis wouldn't even be compatible with each other? Not that you really need your early war Brits to be compatible with your Russians, but you probably will want them to fight the same Germans, so something somewhere is not going to match. Crazy. ;D
-
I own some Copplestone Russians and the Musketeer Maxim... Besides the fact that its the best Maxim Team around scupt-wise (If you don't own it and you play RCW... shame on you!), I find them quite compatible as well. Besides, as someone else on the LAF said, the brush is the great equaliser.
-
Can anyone tell me a decent size / style match for the Musketeer WW1 Russians for a German or KuK opponent? I have been toying with buying the Russians for years, but have never actually done it and would want to know a suitable opponent.
BTW, there are greens for Musketeer WW1 Russian artillery and IIRC cossacks around, but Bill has never finished them off and cast them up.
-
They do very well with Brigade Austrians and GWM germans.

Don't remind me of that. At Crisis three years ago he told me he planned 25 packs or more. Still waiting. >:(
-
I just received some packs of Musketeer WWI Russians (not those in greatcoats, I've already got to many advancing soldiers for BoB skirmish gaming) and they are nice, I am happy with them. :)
Looking at their photo on the Musketeer website I feared that they would be smaller than my Copplestone, but no, they are the same size or even slightly bigger. Weapons are a slightly thinner (and probably more to scale) but same length so that's OK, I can hide this with paint. Being a bit thin the little parts are not so strong and two bayonets did not survive the trip but I don't need bayonets for everyone.
I also bought some civilians that will do well in a SCW or a French WWII village (I think they are intended for VBCW or something) ; and - by curiosity - a pack of Dark Ages Saxons and a pack of Arthurian British, and yes, they will look good in my Dark Ages troops too.

A belated thanks to all who answered 8).
