Title: Arabic Pirates? Some advice please
Post by: Galland on 03 July 2011, 06:56:50 PM
Hiaaarr!

I have been contemplating making a arabic inspired pirate warband, and are not really sure where to find good miniatures for this. They do not need to be 100% historically correct for lets say 1650-1750, but sort of, for instance, blackpowder weapons must at least be correct...ish. Turbans and scimitars if you get my point.

I am on your team!

I have planned the same for some time. I am thinking Barbary Corsairs 1600-1800s. I plan to use:

-Foundry Darkest Africa Arabs and Baluchis

-Brigade Games Mamluk infantry

-Newline/Pontoonier:

-Old Glory, from various packs

This theme caught my interest when I read that they even attacked Iceland!

There are a few in the normal Foundry Pirates range that I got hold of for the LPL but never got round to painting them, they're yours if you want them  :)

(I'm away at the mo but can sort you out a picture when I get back)

cheers

James

Just thinking a little outside the square perhaps, you could consider the Corsairs from LOTR game, although turbans not much in evidence, but perhaps they could be cosidered for head swaps with LOTR Haradrim (have alook on ebay for cheap examples) or even add turbans with greenstuff. You would also have to add some black powder weapons as wanted...
I guess it just depends how much you like doing conversions...

Ah yeah, I saw this thread Herr Kapitän, and they are wonderful miniatures, and will be ordered for sure.
