Needed a long boat for our LOTHS games.
This one is for my Royal navy crew.
My only fully paint crewman for scale.

I still have the oars and sail to paint.

The boat will hold 11 crewmen.
I have a load of pics of the build if anybody is interested.
Made from carboard and cocktail sticks.

Very nice indeed! I should have talked to you instead of buying the Britannia boat ;)
-
This one is just a tad cheaper..onlycost the price of the paint and glue. Made mostly from ceral packet cardboard.

Very nice work. I would like to see some "how to" pictures for sure 8)

Some WIP pictures
The base was cut out of thick card. The straight side edge is about 5" long.

The posts and prow were also cut from thick card.

Posts glued in place first

They were spaced out to suit the bases of my crew

Cross members added

Thin strips of card used to build up the sides. First layer
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/8/1912_14_07_11_12_56_17_0.JPG)
You need to pack out each of the posts between the layers to get the boat shape.
Then keep adding layers
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/8/1912_14_07_11_12_52_41_3.JPG)
Before adding the final layer I add a bit of thick plastic card. This is going to be the oar locks so needs to be stronger. I only fit this to the four middle posts where the oars will sit.

Bit of thin card used for the rowing benches

Rudder made out of plastic card and a cocktail stick.
Also a bit of dowel for attaching the mast.
oars made out of cocktail sticks glue to a bit of metal to weigh it down.

I will post a few pics of the finished item when it is fully painted.

Oars painted

The oars are mounted on a heavy base so they don't need to be attached to the boat.

Just the sail to finish.

Nice looking build! Good how-to also.
-
I lvoe how you did the oars! I love a solution which will stand up well, work with non-specalized figures, and is removable for when the crew disembarks!
-
Those oars are a great idea 8) and I like the varnish on them as well 8)
cheers
