I have recently completed the Irkutsk Dragoon Regiment. Wargames Foundry figures (Alan Perry, sculptor), Foundry & P3 paints, Litko bases, GMB flag, and Silflor 'tufts' from Mr. Norton. The standard bearer has been converted from another figure to add variety. Comment and suggestions welcome.

Wow, from the tips of their horsehair crests to the rocks and scrub beneath their hooves they are superb!

Very nice, indeed.

Well done!

Brilliant work as usual, Bryce :)
Now that Russian dragoons have been added to the Perry Napoleonic range, you can even add more active poses to your Russian cavalry. Like yours, my Russian infantry is all Foundry, but since I had not got around to buying the horse when Foundry prices started skyrocketting, I now intend to get my cuirassiers, hussars and cossacks (plus the 6 pdr battery Alan never did when he was at Foundry) from Perry Miniatures. I expect both ranges to be very compatible as the Russians were the last thing the twins did before leaving the Foundry.

Looks brilliant! Question - are those bought tufts of grass or do you do them yourself? If so, how? I have real trouble getting decent looking tufts onto bases; when I use long static grass and cut it to length it goes all over the place and never looks right to me - any suggestions?
Gorgeous figures, and the horses especially look amazing.

The 'tufts' of grass are manufactured by a number of different suppliers now . . . in the above case I used a mix of colours and sizes from Silflor and Mininatur, courtesy of Jed Norton's shop :http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/wargaming-materials-tools/grass-flock-scatter-clump.html (http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/wargaming-materials-tools/grass-flock-scatter-clump.html) .
Funny how this hold thread got dragged up after more than a year. lol Going forward I will certainly be mixing some of Alan Perrys more recent sculpts into the mix to 'round out' my units. ;)

Well, since the threat's been dug up, what did you use for the green of the coats?

The green was courtesy of Wargames Foundry's "Napoleonic Colours" range (as/was):

I've followed the progression of your Russian army from the start and just think it's absolutely superb! :-* When I do my Russians your work will go in my inspiration folder. :D

:-* :-* :-*I 2nd Christopher, as I keep copies of your various unit pics in my Russian file....very inspiring work!
So exactly how close in build and height are Alan's Russians with Foundry and those he is doing for Perry? I know towards the end of their time at Foundry there was a slow shift in style...but can you easily mix the two in the same unit? :?

I honestly don't know if you can mix Foundry with Perry Russians, as I haven't purchased any Perry figures yet--I still have a couple of hundred Foundry figures to finish. :'(
