Could someone recommend a decent colour for WWI/RCW khaki? I prefer Vajello paints. I know there will be variations, just would like a decent colour to start from.
Ta in advance

Although I only have ww2 russians painted, I'm also planing on using "Khaki Grey" on the russian Civil war ones!

I've seen pictures showing everything from light grey through ochre. I'd go with that khaki grey or German camo beige as a happy medium. Coincidentally I'm planning on picking up some WW1 Russians this weekend also. Happy painting!

Hi!
I think it was a greenish khaki, may be faded to a cream colour..painted mine like this

The green-khaki is Vallejo Model Colour Green Brown+ VGC Charred Brown as shade, VMC Green Brown as midtone and Greenbrown+ VGC Bone White as highlight. Hope that helps 8)

VMC Khaki and Khaki grey will also work well.

yep. I volunteer for Valejo Khaki grey as well. I would also use Khaki and German WWII Beige Camo ( Nr. 821 ) . great color!!

And nice paint job there, Lt.

I've used foundry 3 stage drab for mine. Don't think it os the proper colour as it i sdarker than the unfrms in the Osprey book. I have a few examples posted on how long i smine if you want to compare the colour.
I havn't used Valejo paints but have to say from seeing some a friend recently go they look good quality.
Good luck with the Russians
