Here's some inspiration for those doing any gaming around HPL's At the Mountains of Madness. Some of the sites abandoned over the years by various expeditions to the end of the world. Love the pair of half-sunken ships.

I think I’ve found my new home ;)

Ooooh, another destination to add to my ever-growing list of places to see! Like that needed to grow... ;D

Those ships would make a fantastic setting , and one of the abandoned bases
Thanks for posting.......loads of modelling potential

Great find. A lot of useful pics on the main site as well.

Great site. Some of those pictures are really inspiring - those twin peaks looks totally meanacing.
On the other hand it's such a pity that human beings seem to have to leave crap behind them wherever they go!

I have to agree with you, I somehow had an idyllic idea of a great white plain… :?

Cleaning up the sites has been a priority for quite a while in the Australian territories. Some structures (Mawson's camp and so on) are preserved for historical value.
Being a continent it has mountain ranges and valley (one of them is under 4km of ice). All the Arctic has are reaches, sastrugi and deep water with the odd island sticking out. (That's not a criticism of the Arctic, it's just that Antarctica has always interested me more)
I like a place that has Mt Terror as a major landmark
