Title: An SCW Game in Nottingham
Post by: Westfalia Chris on 30 July 2011, 02:44:01 PM
Hi all,

on Thursday, I went to Nottingham, having been kindly invited by James Morris and the White Hart Wargames Club to play in an SCW game. Following a tour of North Star Military Figures (outstanding) and Games Workshop's Warhammer World (fascinating, if a bit "corporate-ish", possibly expectably so), we played a scenario written by James using Nick Eyre's excellent SCW figures and terrain.

Truly enjoyable - "great fun was had by all", or so I hope, and even though I had to leave too soon due to the rigours and vagaries of rail travel in the Midlands, it was an opportunity I would not have missed.

I've uploaded a gallery of the first four turns of the game (http://s249.photobucket.com/albums/gg236/Christian_S_1979/Modelling%20and%20Miniatures/Spanish%20Civil%20War/SCW%20Game%20Nottingham%202011-07-28/) to my Photobucket account.

Thanks to all involved, and James Morris in particular, who was a most excellent host.

A period I've always had a fascination with. Beautiful miniatures and terrain. Must of been an excellent one to play. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Chris,

Nice to see you and thanks for the pics! (Also thanks to Rob Townsend who kindly drove Chris to the station so I could carry on running the game.)  The game ended with Nationalist defeat as two units of hardened Moors tried to storm two houses held by German XI International Brigade units at the end of the street.  After a very long melee, both Moorish units lost rounds of combat and were destroyed.

Cheers

James

There's a White Hart Wargames Club? They don't play in The White Hart near GW and North Star do they?

Yup, small club started up by myself and a few friends in April this year.  We haven't advertised as we have limited space and wouldn't be able to cope with dozens of extra members, but if you're interested please feel free to email me at jamesmorris17@btinternet.com for the details.

Thanks James, I'll do that when I can. Mostly just entertained that it's 2 mins walk from my house and I was unaware of it :) That and the fact it turns out I know a couple of the members. Work is a bit crazy at the moment and leaves me very little spare time for gaming but I'll shout up when I can.
