Hey all
I decided to strip and repaint some old Citadel Dr Who Cybermen that I've had for years.
And then I thought, well, four Cybermen isn't that terrifying, I'll chance an order to Black Tree and get a few more. So I did, and they arrived today, and they are a lot chunkier than the old Citadel ones.
What I'm basically asking is, do you think they would be useable together? Can anyone remember there being much variation in sizes in the TV show, or were the actors always chosen to be a similar height to emphasize their cold, logical uniformity? :?
Uti, anevilgiraffe, Onebigriver, I look to you for guidance since you guys know everything who related.
If I can get my evil pc to work sometime this week, I'll try and get a comparison photo done as well, unless anyone already has one (did I see someone post pictures of them both together before?)
All advice greatfully accepted. :)

I think that the cybermen were all of similar heights in the TV show. I have some of both citadel and black tree versions and I don't think they look right together at all. The old citadel plastics are even smaller so avoid those if you're looking to build an army.
I have a mix of Citadel and Black Tree Ice Warriors as well and the citadel versions are even smaller compared to the black tree versions than the cybermen.
That said, I'd keep a hold of both as they go for silly money on eBay now. I saw painted Dr Who minis going for £30+ each recently and the painting was only average (apologies if the person who painted them reads this ;D).

Thanks Colin, I was getting towards that opinion myself. :(
I did manage to take a quick pic for reference though:

BTD on the left, Citadel on the right. You can see the BTD one is a good half a head taller. Not to mention the discrepancies in their uniforms... This sort of thing has never been important to me before, I guess its just a bit more noticeable when you are dealing with emotionless identikit space nazis.
Maybe I could get away with the Citadel ones being some kind of Cyber-jugend group...? ::)
I know what you mean about eBay prices too - there's a guy selling three old Citadel ones just like mine for 30 quid - unpainted! :o

Why not paint the smaller ones in a darker metal colour (not gold obviously as that'd kill em) and say they're some sort of specialist cyber-unit?

That's a possibility, I guess.
I had a proper measure up earlier, though. While both the variants of the cybertroopers are big and bulky, the Cyberleader with the domed head is a much better match for the Citadel figures. I wonder if I can get away with using the other Black Tree ones as specialist combat types? Their guns are bigger too, so that might work.
Ah, what the hell, its not like they're for anything other than my own enjoyment anyway. Reckon I'll just bodge it, maybe raise the bases of the Citadel ones a bit so the height's not so obviously different.
Thanks for the ideas Colin. :)

I've had another idea. Just say the smaller ones are further away!!
