Title: Looking for some WW2-era German Supervillians
Post by: Alxbates on 07 August 2011, 08:44:53 AM
My friend is a big sci-fi gamer, I'm a big fantasy gamer... the lower-tech things are, the better I like them (Bronze Age!  Prehistorics!), he likes things so hi-tech they might as well be fantasy (in my opinion...)...

However, we do come together in our love of Pulp stuff.  He's putting together some sort of Flash Gordon/John Carter of Mars-type campaign, and I'll be adding a Super-element to it.  Namely, some German scientists & super-villians opened a portal (using MAD SCIENCE) allowing some troops & characters to flee to another world at the end of WW2, and Captain America and Bucky were able to follow.

28mm scale German troops & vehicles from that era are easy to find, and I've got my Cap and Bucky... what I'm looking for are some other Nazi supervillians.

Who makes a good Red Skull?  Baron Zemo? Baron Von Strucker?  Arnim Zola?  Per Degaton? (I'm willing to pluck villains from both Marvel and DC).

Am I missing any distinctive Nazi Villians?  Wasn't there some guy in a big armored suit, named Iron Cross or something like that?

I might want a 28mm Hitler, too, if only to kill him over and over again.  Something about having Burroughs' Green Martians toss Hitler into a fighting pit really amuses me... and with Arnim Zola around, there's the possibility for endless clones, too...

How about a 28mm set of Nick Fury and his Howling Commandos?  I can probably fake most of them from existing troop and partisan miniatures, but Dum Dum Dugan has such a distinctive bowler hat and facial hair...

I think that's about it -

Red Skull
Baron Zemo
Arnim Zola
Per Degaton
Hitler
Nick Fury
Dum Dum Dugan
Some generic Mad Scientist types, maybe some lab assistants

And any suggestions!  The weirder the better - Wehrwolves, SS Dominatrixes, although for the enemy "character" types I'll only want one of each.

Thanks, folks!

What The! Miniature make a not-Red Skull- and a Capt America too

if you want generic supervillains of your own creation look to teh superfigs range- lots of potential bad guys there

Also consider Artizan Designs for some evil Nazi types- a nice Gistapo officer- very hammy- like the one from indiana Jones.

What about the "Übersoldaten" I came up with for a Supersystem supplement...

For Dum Dum Dugan I think you are going to have to find the right G.I. figure and use the head from a Victorian or old west figure with a bowler & the right facial hair. Head swaps are fairly easy to do.

I would like to see somebody do a proper model of Tyrannosaurus Reich:

Outrageous, and seems quite fun, even from a German point of view. Not exactly sure if it fits in with a Gordonesque pulp approach since it is 1990s superheroes fare.

There should be a Thunderbolts Zemo 'junior' in the Heroclix range I believe

Oooh, the head swap idea sounds perfect - there's a Dugan clix figure (in 1990's style S.H.I.E.L.D. gear) with a head that'd be fairly easy to swap with a normal soldier.

And, seriously - I could figure out a way to crowbar a Tyrannosaurus Reich into my games. It's amazing how simply putting figures on similarly painted bases can give a false sense of coherency!

Here are some WWII era baddies

Master Man
Captain Nazi
Baron Blood
the Iron Major
Stucker and his Blitzkreig Squad
Warrior Woman
Red Panzer
Banzai Squad (Jap Commandos who teamed up Capt. Savage and wiped out WWII era HYDRA in the PTO)
U-Man (Atlantian Nazi)
Yellow Claw
War Wheel
Brain Drain

Just off the top of my head,
Brian

A guy over on HCrealms that does models for Shapeways (print out 3D models) had posted this. They are in "scale" with clix figures.

Quote from: DarkBlueAnt;5751442
Okay, so its pretty disappointing (but not unexpected) that the Captain America set gave us all these WW2 guys, but no Axis troops for them to fight/command. I made this 3D model with the intention of letting people print them, since apparently it's really hard to find them in Clix scale (If you don't mind them being only 4 feet tall, it's easy to find them though).

I'm not really interested in all the details of WW2 gear and uniforms, but I tried to give him a timely gun at least. It'll probably need to be thickened when I print it though.

Also, we can't have the Germans look better than the Americans, so here's a special sculpt for those of you who only play DC sets

Good suggestions all around - thanks especially for the BTD Hitler... I was hoping for more of a degenerated clone type, but I suppose I could always just make one myself with Forge of Ice (or a three-pack?  Sculpted by... Paul Muller...?)

Any other suggestions?

Arnim Zola figures anywhere?

Copplestone Castings has a great Hitler robot in the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang "Evil Geniuses" pack:

PIC removed, Swatiska on H-Robot... Sorry! Agis

Superfigs makes "Krieghund,' a Nazi supervillain type. Looks very much like Masterman.

I don't think that figure will work for you.  He is a giant even by Heroclix standards, and a horrible sculpt also.  The paint was very thick and messy on those figures.  Secret Invasion was one of the worst sets for sculpts and paint.  I think you're better off with the previous suggestion of finding a Victorian or old west figure to use in the head swap.

Heroclix does a classic Zola in his android form that works well with my stuff.

Hmmm... well, crap.

Neither Victorian nor wild west figures are my normal bailiwick - anyone out there have a suggestion for a guy with muttonchops/but mustache, cigar & bowler hat?

Sorry Agis.  My fault completly, I forgot about The Rule.

On the Allied side:
Reaper's Sgt. Mack Torrey would work for a WWII Nick Fury (or Sgt. Rock, if you are so inclined).  T
Eureka makes "Sgt. Steel" in three different poses, and Warlord/Bolt Action comes right out and calls their version Sgt. Rock.

It's worth pointing out Pulp Figures, who do some very nice evil Nazi figures- Mad scietists, feme fatals, gestapo, She-wolves (female nazi soldiers-all good stuff) :o

I feel I should point out that it is the figures that are nice, not Nazis.

You know...just in case anyone thought I was a secret Nazi-supporter.  ;)

There's the chap in the top right here:

Close...but no cigar...

However that's easy enough to add.  Only downside is that they come in packs of four. It's from Woodbine Designs through Gripping Beast Miniatures.

Love the classic comic covers.

I'm... an OK sculptor.  Far better at filling gaps and adding fur than I am at doing full figures.  Probably beyond my ability or interest level.

Keep the suggestions coming, folks!  They're great!
