now all i need is for someone to sculpt a psychotic looking sikh guru, an aussie heliograph team in turtle shell sun helmets, friendly fuzzies in trousers and indian troops doubling up on a camel. :o

Yes, I posted the link at the Victorian Wars Forum. I though the pictures are well known. What I am looking for are the other 27 pictures at the National Archive. Here the link to the discussion (maybe you know anything?): http://www.victorianwars.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5877

great work Frank!!! I doff my cap to you sir.
I google Imaged Beato and got lots of his more better known asian images. I too want to see the rest of his Sudan set, the ones availiable are stunning. I'd love the job of rummaging round the dusty basement of the national archive re-discovering lost treasures. who knows what else they have lurking around ?

"an aussie heliograph team in turtle shell sun helmets,"
Wait, those aren't reinforcements from the Death Star?
Frank, I'm no help at all, but do keep us posted if you've further luck. Thanks for what you've given us.
I'm tittering over the boat piccies!
