I've had these figures for a while and I seem to take even longer painting now (deteriating eyesight and rheumatism). Speaking to Paul I have somehow been roped into running these figures in a game at Matakishi's Tea Party. I only hope to be playtesting the basic game system, It will be the first time I have used the rules (hope they work :D). I only need to paint up about 20-30 more of the figures below to be able to run. Also need to write up the rules and print out and laminate all the playsheets and various cards. Fortunately I bought Silent Invaders brilliant Zombie scenery a while ago which I will be using until I eventually finish mine.
As I have at long last finished the Russians tonight (Promised Paul they would be up on this forum yesterday or tonight, hence the late post) I thought I would post up detail and plans.
The game is of a skirmish level, geared towards multiplayer campaigns a'la Necromunda, with your gangs improving. The object of the game as well as killing each other is to collect artifacts, characters, plot points etc. all improving your gang overtime.
Sorry some of the photo's of unpainted stuff are a bit blurry.
Background
After a second explosion at Chernobyl rumoured by some of the older more crazed Stalkers to be extraterrestial in origin, the area affected was cordoned off with fences and in some places walls, with the inhabitants trapped inside.
After a few years adventerous individuals started exploring "The Zone" (as the area became known) and came back with strange artifacts, sources of sustainable energy, and other advanced technology. They also reported areas in the Zone where some of our scientific laws were non existant.
As demand for these objects increased, boomtowns sprung up around the edge of the Zone filled with adventurers, Stalkers, Tourists, Army deserters and the dregs of society all Policed by the newly assigned UN Forces.
Factions
Russian Army Warlords
The many troops left trapped inside the Zone were fortunate in that they had access to fallout shelters, so came through the explosion virtually unscathed, upon returning to the surface and finding themselves trapped within the Zone, many of the soldiers formed into independent groups led by a Warlord, who attempts to govern their small fiefs and expand their area of influence both aggresively and trading in artifacts.
Now to show off my completed figures. These can also be used as regular troops for the KGB.

Their transport, initially will be used as a base point for you to return your artifacts etc. that you are collecting until I expand the rules with vehicle options.
This is a Ki-Tech kit from Ebay for only £10.00 far cheaper than all the resin alternatives, I had to make a false panel to cover the location hole for missile launcher. Still need to tidy up stowage and paint details (lights, periscopes etc.) as well as weathering.
Have this to build to add to forces at later stage.
might possibly add some of the Chechen Russians from Bungle.
Stalkers
The explorers, guides and traders in wondrous things, having spent years exploring the zone stalkers are very aware of it's environment and the associated dangers. These guys often work in small gangs working for a particular crime lord or a fence, other's hire there services out independently to UN, KGB or as guides for Tourists and big game hunters looking to kill a few zombies or mutants.
Will be getting this when released for their vehicles
(http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss355/elysium64/A06301_1.jpg)
UN forces
Assigned to guard the perimeter of the Zone and to try to stop the trade in artifacts, as well as being quite happy to destroy the artifacts some have also found a little sideline in their illegal trade. These are the best armoured and most technically advanced force in the game (until maybe I introduce Aliens 8))
Their vehicles, may still change the Hummer for a Tamiya version to keep all vehicles 1/48th, even though this Imprint model is a beautiful piece.
KGB
The Russian Government are unhappy about the loss of power to the UN and the KGB are assigned to collect artifacts, and to do what they can to undermine the UN, able to hire Stalkers or Russian Army
(http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss355/elysium64/017-7.jpg)
Plan to get a couple of Antenociti Zebu Cruisers painted black for their transport.
Zone inhabitants
These will attack the players activated by event cards. I might also try another little game with these guys being the starting characters as you learn to become a Stalker.
Zombies/mutants
Again activated by cards, will use initially as basic zombies, but will later add some specialities. Thinking of trying out a rule, "Zombie Truce", because of the fear of infection, all models in line of site of zombies or combatants engaging zombies, can only move toward and attack zombies, until all zombies in this combat are dead, then they can go back to killing each other or exploring.
Characters and Tokens
Will use these as either characters or tokens as the need arises
(http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss355/elysium64/013-7.jpg)
Scenery and set dressing
I have already painted these (the two bins and sofa made by Silent invader, painted by me)

All buildings will need interiors to explore, provided by bits from Frontline, Ainsty Pardulon and Verlinden
Would also like some buildings/shacks from Pardulon and Ainsty.
The LAM figures are absolutely superb, and I must acknowledge the caster/mouldmakers as the undercuts on some of these figures has to be seen to be believed, truly incredible. My favourite figures by far and easy to paint although a lot of detail.
Well target is set, I need playable forces by 2nd October so will hopefully update regularly.

Great Job,wait for more pics.
-
Oh wow! I cant wait to see this project when it is done. Keep up the good work
-
Excellent collection of miniatures.
And speaking about terrain and scenery.
Precision Model Designs makes some interesting buildings and ruins which are very stalker-like in appearance.

First of October Simon, not second :)
Good work so far, I'm really looking forward to seeing everything on the day.
-
Excellent stuff! I'm quite looking forward to seeing your Hind assembled - had a blast building and painting mine, and being a 1980s kit, it may not be accurate as a scale model, but looks so good as a gaming piece.

:-*
The Russian Warlords look fantastic!
The Prof. would be proud! :)

Thanks for the comments.
Hopefully here are some better pictures taken of the Warlords.

Sorry for lack of zombies, but they are progressing nicely and should be up by the beginning of next week.
In the meantime here are some teasers of W.I.P of the one building I am completing before Matakishi's Tea Party.
The model is based on the Plastruct TV Station.

Still have the detailing on the roof, further interior detailing, make the opening doors and a couple more bits on the tower, will be doing Sunday night. no more photo's til painted.
-
Great painting and the attention to detail is just amazing! :o
-
this TV station is a very inspiring thing, great idea, keep it up, can't wait for more!
-
This entire thread is excellent inspiration, this latest build is simply fantastic. Can't wait to see it painted :-*
-
Nice. Who makes the small parts & furniture in the building ?
-
The cream resin items are from two Verlinden 1/35th scale sets, all the tables had their legs shortened, the bed had a 8mm-10mm section cut out of middle to shorten it, and had legs scratch built to get correct height. the rest is straight from the box and even though the "wrong scale" looks correct thankfully due to some of the exagerated proportions on many of our 28mm models.

http://www.historexagents.com/shop/hxproductdetail.php?ProductCode=2662
cost me about £15.00 each on ebay, and still have loads of stuff for other projects.
The chair and fire extinguisher came in a large mixed box of diecast cars bought for another project, all part of a petrol station/garage backdrop no idea of manufacturer, sorry.
-
Nice stuff.
From the photo's I'd never guessed that was 1/35 scale.
good find.
-
I love your stalker stuff! Great work.
-
Thanks for all the positive comments, the construction on the TV station is finished and painting started, anf the first zombies should be finished tonight. Photo's soon I promise :D
-
Absolutely wonderfull !!
-
The models are amazing..you have really immersed yourself in the whole game and the attention to detail is a tribute to your patience. I like the range of models you have sourced and of course basing the whole thing on the beautiful Lead Adventure range was a good move.
I also quite like the modern Russians that Empress sell..perhaps you could use some of those?
Also, you might like to look at some of the Russian buildings by Miniart. They are WW2 and mostly bombed out, but would probably suit the region you are looking to do very well. They are 1/35 but most of them should work quite well.

Can't wait to see the final report!
-
I really love this thread, and I'm amazed how quickly you manage to do this! :-*

I thank you sir! :D

Things a bit slow at the moment due to other commitments (helping a friend refurbish the Pub next door to me)
but good progress made on TV station, construction complete, about halfway through painting, the zombies progressing very slowly, also done conversion work on my two Matakishi figures (removing shirt details, and green stuffing so he now wears the required T-shirt.
Hoping to have more photo's soon.
Thanks for all the kind comments, and suggestions, though pretty much have whole board planned out now.
"you have really immersed yourself in the whole game and the attention to detail is a tribute to your patience."
Yeah Im almost OCD with regards to detailing, some of the extra stuff I have is unnecessary but I really enjoy doing it, though it means I take alot longer to complete anything.

That's the right attitude Simon...good for you! :D
-
First time I've seen this and my brain just exploded all over the wall!!! :-* This is the best apocalypse I've ever seen! Can't wait for more!
-
The games sounds like a lot of fun, and you have done a stunning job on those figures and on the terrain. Thanks for sharing!!

-
Continually fantastic. Smashing work!
-
Thanks for all the kind comments, they really are keeping me going.
I really can't wait to show you the finished TV Station, it is so close now, and I am really pleased with how it's going, but why oh why did I add so much detail?
The zombies just need there bases doing, and I have also done some other scenery pieces.
I will definitely have some photo's of completed models early next week although I have just broken my current camera so will need to get friend to take photo's. :'(
-
done conversion work on my two Matakishi figures (removing shirt details, and green stuffing so he now wears the required T-shirt.
Is Sylvester getting a robotic leg?
-
Is Sylvester getting a robotic leg?
Which leg? I'll see what I can do ;)
As I am getting so close to completion I thought I would add a teaser picture :D
(http://i591.photobucket.com/albums/ss355/elysium64/IMG-20110923-00034.jpg)
Once this batch is finished, Sunday/Monday, I have 5 days to paint two more figures, write up a rules playsheet, (The rules are currently all in my head, I do hope they work, Matakishi's Tea Party will be the first playtest, will have notepad ready for amendments!) along with photographing all figures individually to create the game cards etc. Boy oh boy am I up against it.....
-
Excellent painting, hope you take lots of pictures from the Matakashi tea party event :)
-
Thing of beauty, that is.
Yes. Take lots of pix please.
-
Sylvester is missing his right back leg.
-
:-* Can't wait for all the eyecandy to be revealed ;D

At bloody last!
Zombies, TV Station and scenery are finished.
A friend Ben has bought a camera around so I can at last post these and move on to the next part of the project.
I taught Ben some modelling and painting skills whilst building TV Station and some scenery, he built some of the roof details, the watchtower platform excluding the spotlight and did some of the chemical dump(barbed wire fence, grass and flowers and water effect). He also did most of the drybrushing of these items.
The fences are adapted from some reat scenery purchased off Silent Invader.

Very impressive attention to details :-*
Best stalker project that I've seen so far.
And a very good use of those 1/35 bits.
-
Criticism ???
Well, if you insist : You're gonna give us all a lead high with this overdose of eye candy ;)
Seriously, that is a mighty fine job you've done. :-*
The details are fantastic.
BTW : where did you get that cactus from ?
-
Thanks Zizi, the cactus is part of Cactus set No.2 by Pegasus models, the pot was made from scrap.
-
Fantastic!! :o :o :-* :-*
Really great scenery and miniatures. Love the detail you have put in the building and all around.
-
Simply fantastic work :-* :o
Oh and nice touch adding a poster with "boobies on display" lol , the entire interior oozes realism. Even goddamn coffee stains!
Truly a work of art.
-
That's a thing of desolate, desperate, brutal post-apocalyptic beauty!
*sniff* brings a tear to my eye, it does.
Thank you for sharing such excellent work.
-
Amazing. Love the new zombies and the terrain all looks beautiful. Love those LAM post-apoc mini's. Can't wait to get some myself. :)
-
Mindblowing :-* :-* :-*
-
truly awesome!! I love your painting on the zombies, very well done and that TV station with all that details is a stroke of genius. High class painting and modelling job!
-
There's some very nice modelling right there.
-
That's impressive Simon.... the room interior! :o
-
Great stuff Simon.
So when is the big event and subsequent battle report/ s going to happen?
-
Cracking work Simon :-* :-* Love the little details :-*
-
I've had to come back and look again and again, this is great stuff.
Speaking of details... where did you get all the radio equipment from the inside of the station?

Awesome, just came across this thread and it is inspiring - must get those dammed yankees finished first :-(
-
Looks like it's gonna be awesome. Can't wait to see it finished. :D
-
Amazing work! That building interior must be some of the best and most dedicated work I've seen! I'd love to play on that table!
-
Last night myself and my friend decided we needed to get more done on my STALKER project, as I have been unable to start the next big building project (adding interior detail to 3 Plasticville Apartments). but inspired by Pardulon I wanted to build a small shanty town.
We made the first two buildings a dwelling built by me, and after a few suggestions from me a Bar built predominantly by my friend. I am also basing up all my telegraph poles.
I bought some Black spray today so will try to get finished this week along with the factory and hopefully a few more shacks, want at least another 8.

Still a bit more work to do on the bar, more layers on roof, flooring of upstairs area, sand and basetext base.
When I can afford it I want to place a large order to Pardulon for furniture which I can add to these and the factory.
-
Love the town.
-
Great models - and applause, too, for sticking to one of your chosen projects for the year.
-
Great stuff......I especially like the bar and the boot on the telegraph pole 8)
-

Simply superb. that's really inspiring!

Kep up the good work!
Funnily enough, I have never played any of the computer games (my computer is to old and slow), all my inspiration is from the figures, a few screen shots found online, the film and book and other peoples work here.
Have done more to the bar, and built a pig sty, and communial toilets :D

Been adding to the shanty town this weekend

What a great bunch of cool terrain building ideas :-* Pig sty and the bar are stellar!
-
All that marvellous building and detailing going on, and what really jumps out is the toilet roll!
Applause!
-
Genius! I especially like the bar and the tented area next to the electricity pole! Really really good!

Excellent attention to details, as always. :-*
-
Sweet !
-
Genius. Sheer genius.
-
I love what you are doing here - I just may have to divert a bit of attention to a few shanties for my board...
And the public convenience is a knockout!

Whilst i was painting figures in the hope of entering the LPL this year (I'm a LPL virgin ;D) my friend, Ben continued to build Stalker scenery, A wrecked car.

Ben is in charge of scenery making until LPL finished, I think I am safe leaving it in his hands.

Lovelly looking stuff!

He has only been modelling for 6 months, and only when around here, so you get to see it all anyway :D

Stunning stuff! I'm not sure how I've missed this up until now. The detailing is superb (the roll of toilet paper hanging on the door of the public convenience, the interior of the TV station - everything) and the painting is top-notch. Good to hear you'll be entering the LPL this year - I'm looking forward to seeing what you produce, and to seeing more of this thread!
-
Very nice, the shanty town is suitable chaotic but artistically done. :-*
What's your recipe for the corrugated metal?
I've heard a lot of people just use cardboard.
The car looks great too! :-*
-
The corrugated metal is either cut down from a resin cast sheet I bought many years ago (sorry don't know the manufacturer), or embossed plasticard bought from Antenocitti.
-
I also use the corrugate metal from antenocity, it's great! Congrats again, elysium!
-
Thanks for answering my corrugated question. :)
I'll check it out!

Just finished the Camo net tent. I am building three separate interior models for this, an ammo dump, fuel dump and a soup kitchen, pictured below with the HQ set up

I will be painting the baseboard pt 1. tomorrow so may take a few photo's of everything so far. Other shanties and factory on the paintbench, as I am entering the LPL this year Ben will be doing all the block colours and drybrushing and I will be painting the details. I have quite a few Stalker figures on my LPL schedule so hopefully still be able to present this game at Matakishi's next Teaparty or BLAM, if I do this and once rules are ironed out, I would like to run it as a participation game at SALUTE 2013.
-
Awesome. What a great project. :-*
Love that tent.
-
If thats anything to go by, then their very safe hands.
-
Flippin' awesome. Just ab-so-lute-ly awesome. When can we get a full-table shot? I'd love to see the entire set-up.
-

Paint and build 8 more troop transports
Paint shanty town and factory built so far
Build 4 or 5 more shanties
Build 2 apartment blocks (decided I am going to build from scratch rather than adapting Plasticville)
Then scenic accesories furniture ,fences, rubbish, game tokens etc.
Write out and playtest rules. o_o

What a fantastic board. It's very moody and really sets a tone.
There's a lot of really great details as well.

Awesome terrain! :-*

Thanks. I have to clean up a puddle of drool now :( . This is one of the most awesome projects I've seen so far!

Great looking table and figures.
Seeing your stuff may get me back to painting mine.
Been painting F&IW for the last few months.
Time for a change.

I agree. Hopefully whoever the new owner is going to be will continue in the same vein and with updates. This project was awesome.
