Oh my, one of my heroes is soon gone.
:(
But to be honest, since the time when Hellboy left the BPRD the Hellboy stories did not really appeal to me anymore.
I just loved the initial comics with the evil Nazi villains, but the longer the series went, the stranger all opponents grew.
Not always to my liking. Fortunately the BPRD story were getting better and better at the same time!

Does the term "spoiler" mean anything to you, Prof? :o

Yes, but that’s not me, that’s Dark Horse, check their start page

Yes, but I wouldn't have seen that page if you hadn't posted about it here. ;)

Better you hear it from me now than from somebody else later ;)

Its comics, Mignola will have him back where he wants him when he wants him.

Well, like Mignola said; there's enough to tell about Hellboy in between the beginning and end, and I'm happy about that. But personally I don't think Mignola will bring him back from the dead, even this is comics.

I agree on that Agis. Let's hope those possible Hellboy stories will be more like those! :)
-
His BPRD stories were the best ones.
-
NOOOOOOOO!!!!
-
Oh.
...
I am a bit torn about this outcome. I have not been this interested in a cartoon character since, I don't know...Tintin? Blake & Mortimer? Opus of Bloom County? Maggie and Hopey of Love & Rockets? and I have been looking forward to read more about him for almost every album released. Therefore it is a great pity he's been let go. But all good characters have an arch and must come to an end to avoid that godawfull hell which is syndicated comics like Hagar the Horrible.
-
Well, I’m torn about that too. On the one hand, how Agis said, the later Hellboy stories were getting more strange and Hellboy too melancholy. Mignola just ran dry of ideas. On the other hand it’s a pity to see one of my favorite heroes gone. Sure, Mignola will create more new Hellboy stories, from his past etc. Anyway, it isn’t a good feeling to know that Hellboy is no more.

Aye, that's been another problem. No one can match his art but he's been pretty, I don't know, careless about the production of some albums.

Hellboy in BPRD was certainly his golden age. I did however enjoy some of the other stories to. Corben did a cracking job on a couple of them.

hellboy is dead long life hellboy??? how anytime did a superhero died just to get reborn later on
-
nobody dies in comic books, six months to a year from now there will be a quest to revive Hellboy special commemorative issue.
-
Didn't Superman die at some point only to return soon after? :)
Hellboy can't die... He has a destiny to fulfil!
-
<SPOILER ALERT>
Finally got the last of three issues of the series today. Hellboy "dies" in this world, but Nimue takes him to Hell with her.
The inside back cover of Issue #3 says, "Coming in 2012 -- Hellboy in Hell."
He'll find a way back.
-
Oh, that last one was a massive spoiler... maybe you could make the font a tiny size and have people enlarge it at their own will?
I've been collecting these in their graphic novel format. As soon as Mignola stopped doing the artwork there was something lost, I think.
I liked the Crooked Man book, BPRD I didn't like as much, particularly because of John Arcudis drawings.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing this series!

He came back as three guys iirc, in three different comic books
-
Sadly like all comic book series (well not all but a few) it drags on a looses it's general flare i.e Walking Dead and like all super heroes they get killed off. He will be brought back to life I'd put money on it
-
As I see it your not a comic char if you havent died and come back atleast once. Just look at the X-men.. lost track on how many times they died.
-
thumps up for Mignola! I like a lot Hellboy, but if it's time for Mignola to go into new projects and Hellboys death is sensible to close the story, then go ahead.
Many good stories require the death of the hero to be complete and be good stories.
I prefer him to kill the character instead to turn it into a franchise serie constantly changing artist & writer and finishing in a never ending serie where the character turns into a toon of himself.
