Thanks kitsune

I am going to paint the 4 remaining in the box and then see whether I fancy the other 5, do have a box of spearmen kicking around somewhere so there is a small project in the making there  :)

Nice Dodge looks really good.

The skin of the cold one is particularly good especially as I know this is a different format to your usual subjects

That set is a nice one, and you have done an excellent job on this fellow.

Maybe it's my aging eyeballs, but the rider looks dark and indistinct to me...  o_o

thanks gord you can see him in the flesh on thursday

Thanks although the final purple highlight needs to be thinner when applied to prevent that line on the shield.

a few more to do and I will have half the unit I want  :D

I agree on the top pic, the camera focuses where it will on those straight on shots like that one, and I can't seem to get it better. I will try to do better next time round  :D

Too much light reflection from the rather bright surface, and too little light directly on the mini, I would say. Problems with photography almost always come down to the lighting.

Flash is no good, so you need a good daylight bulp (or more). Another way is to use light diffusion (have bright light shine through thin wite paper, for instance.

Hammers has a thread with a home-made light-box somewhere, but I cannot find it atm.

yes I had three lights one daylight and two halogen I think using that off white paper didn't help either, lots of light bouncing around, I find lighting so difficult where I do my painting .

Hmmm, yes, I notice the multiple shadows, now... Must be the paper then. Too much light reflected into the lens from that, makes the mini seem darker than it should. Did you use the macro setting? Even with that on, I sometimes simply cannot get the mini in proper focus....

Yes fine macro under 5cm shooting , I am wondering if i took th eshot no macro from further back and cropped it whether it would come out better, just need to experiment
