The Swedish Secrets of the Third Reich tournament was held this weekend and I took about 200 pictures during the event of all 6 tables and my own 4 games. I will be posting everything in this thread, battle reports, complete list of results, army lists etc, probably starting tomorrow.
I need to check all the pictures and sort them into battle by battle categories and such first.
In the meantime you guys can check out the 12 army lists taking part this year and "game in progress" pictures from day 1 of all the games going on by clicking on the links below. It is just a small fraction of all the pictures I took yesterday in the "Day 1 battles" link.

Second part summary of the tournament.
I've listed all the rankings, winners, best painted, sportsmanship awards and a ton of pictures of all the games played during day 2.
I have still another ton of pictures from the games I played myself over the weekend ( 4 games in total) which will be used for the battle reports.

@Raxxus, as we had our own independent tournament all the terrain was scrambled from the local players and we used what we had. We had brief contact with the a person involved in the SydCon tournament scene and there was talk about some sort of "terrain reserve" that could be borrowed but it all took such time and the contact with that person was so lackluster that we ended up making it completely independent with our own hired locale and our own terrain.

We could have done a lot more last year and this year for the terrain, but it's always a matter of time, money and most of all the will to do it and having the people to do it with.
Next year (if not sooner) our friends from up north will probably hold some tournament so it will be a nice change of terrain and environment for those participating :)

In Lund, southern tip of Sweden just above Malmö looking at the map from the west coast across from Denmark.
Most of us were "locals" but we had players come down from Gothenburg and all the way from the Norrköping area as well.
We were 12 players last year as well, this year we were up to 14 registered people, but 2 fell away about 2 weeks before the tournament.

Call me crazy, but I thought you could only field one mortar in a Platoon?

It's a shame that we couldn't make it down for it but I hope I can convince the other players in the club to go next year.

Anatoli, I think you are a prime example of a guy making a game come about. I, and I suspect also Raxxus, keep focusing on certain singular aspect of games, like appearances, to make them happen. I personally will probably never let that go but I am aware of the limitations it impose on me and my projects.

Hehe the British paratroopers can upgrade their command squad with one platoon support option beyond the platoon support limit. So you can get 2 medium mortars with the Brit para's. They didn't do that much against me but I'll be posting battle reports from all my games starting today through Friday as there are a lot of cool/weird stories ranging from tactics to die rolls gone insane.
You can actually field 4 mortars with the US platoon if you want to , if you include 1 mortar in your platoon as platoon support and then buy 3x Mortar halftracks. They are medium chassis so you will use up all your support slots but it might be worth it if you want to be hated lol.

I try to build stuff for my own terrain needs but even there I have severe space limitations at home so storage is the main problem for me. For the tournament, sure we could have started some terrain workshop it would probably end up with me and some other person doing all the work and I don't have that time to spend on terrain that isn't owned by myself to be honest. Last year we had a rushed workshop where be spent an afternoon 6 of us making the forests. That went well, but to plan and get people to show up on such workshops is a greater feat than organizing a tournament.
If we were to build something more complex like buildings one person would need to supervise the whole workshop and that would be too much hassle as well.
I am aware that the terrain didn't leave a great impression on anyone, but I'm of the opinion that it is better to get some games played and have a tournament than not playing :)

Yeah we'll see where the next tournament is going to be held. I myself won't have to possibility to throw something together next summer but I'll be available for traveling to anywhere within reasonable car distance to play a tournament if it is held outside of the Lund area :)
The most important thing was that we all had a great time, it was a nice and laid back friendly atmosphere and it was also nice to meet the guys from last year and the new faces.

Scenario: “Escorting thru enemy lines”
Forces: US Armoured infantry vs Swedish partisans
This was my first game during the tournament, check the mission briefing for full details about the scenario. What should have been a non problematic game turned into a tense and bloody fight that I wasn't really prepared for. Partisans charging with explosives blowing up my main battletank, partisans moving in on horses blazing SMG fire whittling down my left flank, a partisan HMG team on the right flank holding my open topped M10 Wolverine at safe distance and other crazy stuff.
The end turn on the left flank was basically fought between individual soldiers as the casualties had piled up and the remnant were inches from achieving their mission. This was a game that was very close despite the end result 5-2. It was also a game that proved what I had been worried about, my infantry being in such small numbers that they were easily put out of action which would risk my efficiency taking objectives.

Excellent - looks like it was a great game. I travel to Sweden for work from time to time (will be in Linköping for a couple of weeks in September in fact) but rarely see anything gaming-related going on. I was worried poor Hammers was the only Swedish gamer out there!

Haha , there are hubs of gamers dotting Sweden, we have quite a few gamers playing various stuff down in the south around the Lund/Malmö area :)

Linköping is actually one of the gaming centres in Sweden (it's a big student area).
You should try to contact Dragon's Den (http://www.dragonsden.se/). I know Carl and he's an extremely nice person, so he could sort you out :)

My second game during the Swedish tournament had me facing the dreaded APE platoon in a mission that lacked a turn limit but rather had a time restriction. Both players relied on their vehicles surviving else things would be kind of tricky.
It was another bloody game, and a fast paced game as well. I think we reached the end of turn 8 before I surrendered and we still had something like 40 minutes left.

Last two AAR's from my Swedish SoTR 2011 tournament experience.
3rd battle was against UK Paratroopers, and the final battle was against UK Rifle platoon.
Again, rather close games but most importantly great fun to play and provided some real tension.
