Title: Another New Guy
Post by: joekano on 09 September 2011, 04:51:38 PM
Hi All,

Guess I'm another part of the recent wave of immigrants landing on the shores of LAF.   With small kids, I don’t get much of a chance to game these days, but still enjoy finding time to paint.  Current projects include samurai, WWI East Africa, Doctor Who, and am just starting VBCW.   Looking forward to poking around and getting to know the rest of the folks.

I was told "No better advertisement than word of mouth".

Guess the recent influx could be due to that?

That's how I ended up over here

Welcome!

How old are the kids?

2 and 4.  I've already gotten the boys interested in painting miniatures (I usually give them old GW plastics), though I think they are more interested in making the brush rinse water change color than the actual figures. I've been debating on getting some Eureka bear figures to  start them on some simple gaming, but it looks like they contain lead still.  Perhaps in a few years.

I think you may find one or two others here who are interested in WWI East Africa.

Hi Allen,

Thanks for the heads up!  I've got the German side finished(http://www.flickr.com/photos/joekano/5533569307/in/set-72157602279741321/) but progress on the British side is stalled while I poke around on other projects. Since I'm not gaming these days, my attention seems to wander a lot when it comes to painting.

I have both sides  ready to play.
Probably if I'll rejoin my old Club,  I have oppurtunity to play some games
and certainly I'll send report and pictures.

WW1 East Africa is a long standing passion (maybe 30 years). Anything on that subject is going to find a ready audience in me.

Great!  I have some questions on the British troops, so it's nice to know I may be able to get some answers.

And apparently have incredible luck with the dice, from reading past battle reports.  Given their ages, Dad could expect to be trounced three turns in at most.
