I was in need of a japanese landingcraft but unfortunately there is no suitable model available, so I decided to build one by myself. In fact this first my first attempt in scratch-building. As I am planning do build a bigger one, the "Super-Daihatsu" capable of transporting vehicles, I hope to improve some facets e.g. the weathering.
It is for use in my 20mm WWII-pacific games (which I hope to play in the not too far future ;))

Excellent! Any tutorial possible?
Edit: awesome blog and will certainly follow the progress on your pacific project!
BTW, who made the AA gun?

I think it looks great, especially if this is your first scratch build! I will check your blog out, it seems interesting.

yep, that looks very professional, fine craftsmanship.

Cool looking boat. Like the island too.

Great job!

Nice.

Lovely scratch build model. Love the weathering effect on the Daihatsu.
Have you look at Hovel miniatures 20 mm Battle Ground products:

Two Japanese vessels are available.

.... and then make one in 28mm scale - you may find a buyer for your prototype!

Lovely work and if that's your first bit of scratchbuilding it is even more impressive.

Like your landing craft.
How many do you plan to make?
Also had a look around your blog.
Very nice.
Loved your temples. Great work.

Thanks for your kind reviews.
In fact I never knew that Hovels got this Boat ( I always rembered Hovels more as a source for buildings).
As I plan to build only one more boat (the bigger one or "Super A") I do not have an urgent need, but there is the patrol boat which looks quite interesting. Has anybody a size-comparison maybe a picture, for I´ve been told that Hovels-models tend to be somewhat small ?
The island is more or less a "design study" for the islands to build, don´t know if I will do them that way in the end.
The AA gun is from "sergeant´s mess". I´ve bought it from mbmmodels (which I recommend warmly !!) together with my SHQ-Japanese.
