Been a while since I posted pictures (problems with Photobucket) but I'd be happy to receive comments. Here's another pic

Excellent - I can also see that standing on a headland in a pirate game!

Looking very good. Something I could need for my Asian/Near East town too. Maybe some finishing touches are necessary, these grey borders look a bit too plain, maybe it makes sense to add some sand and gras.

I think so, some fine gras here and there, some sand parts. Not too much, in the hollows.

And a flag?

Probably a set of flags so it can be multi-purpose?

I like it! Plenty of settings you could use that for.

very nice indeed! great colour and finish. really looks like adobe/mudbrick.
I want to do a multi period, multi location blockhouse/mini fort type thing and yours fits the bill to a tee. I wont do a direct copy but when I get round to it there may be some similarities.  ;)

I agree the rocks are too plain. Some dry washes maybe and some extra texture needed...?

I was going to say the same. The rock brings an otherwise great item down a bit. A practical piece to, just the right size 'n all.

I'd bring out the texture of the walls with a little dry-brushing with lighter colors. Apart from that, very nice work on a very useful structure.  :)

That's usable across a very wide swath of both time and space indeed! Very nice, will have to file that away for NWF/BoB inspiration!

I like the layout and would echo the need for more weathering and 'growies'  :) 8)

cheers

:-* That's excellent, but yeah, it needs some cosmetics, a bit of Malamute style maybe   8)

That is one fine piece of scenery. All it needs is a little bit of work on some of the details like the rocks.

Poor Bezzo must think we're ganging up on him with, reiterating our 'good advice.' :)

That's exactly what I just thought, too  :)

I know that problem, making photos in the open, did it in the early hobby days due to the lack of decent lamps. You never know how the pics will turn out.

This is a great piece of kit. I need to get something similar for my own Zanzibaris.

As for the rocks, I think the issue might be less of the overall finish of the rocks, but rather the fact that they look to be a rather "cold" grey as compared to the "warm" browns of the fort. The foliage in the last pic looks very effective, and maybe it would suffice to shade down just the spots where the rocks meet the fort, to give it some more differenciation. Maybe mix some "chocolate brown" and some anthracite grey with a spot of pure black, water it down a bit, and define the edge with a good, fine brush.

But that may be a nitpick. I think it's absolutely fine as a gaming piece, yet could benefit from some careful, gentle additions, so as not to overdo and ruin it.

Excellent fort.
I like the closeup, it shows lots of detail.
I think that sometime we tend to be too picky about our "toys."
There is much on the forum, that is so outstanding.
I love the fact that there are so many willing to offer ideas on how to improve what we do.
I like the fact that people don't feel that they are being picked on or criticized.
There are truly lots of great people on this forum.
Thanks.

Better now, after this rocks retouch.
Good scale, very playable.
Some photos when you finish to paint the rocks?

Hi Geoff, very nice and useful fort.
From my personal point of view I like it as it is.
More genuine and remind me the old wargame scenery of years ago.
I like it.
