Title: Monkey?
Post by: Maenoferren on November 17, 2007, 03:22:47 PM
Anyone know where I can get a 28mm Monkey to run in a pirate game.  HAs to be typical pirate type with a hat at the very least.

We were playing Savage worlds Pirates game last night with the writer of the aforementioned tome and he has adopted a Monkey which almost did more damage than the rest of us. So it would be good if we could get a character to play with.
Cheers
Stephen

Fantastic! Every home should have one

At this rate we could raise a complete Monkey Pirate crew, with a tame goblin as a bonus

GW has a beautiful plastic powder monkey in their Empire Handgunner kit. No pic I am afraid.

Thanks for the response guys, strangely enough I was going to order the  handgunners to go with my Empire Militia (pirates) they are pretty much made up out of every plastic set I had. So far I have about 25 built, but none paited yet. I will put them on here when I get them done.
Cheers once again

Here is Captain Pinch minus his second tail...

Complete with blue splodge on his nose....bugger! :x

Captain Pinch's rear.

He stands about 25mm from feet to top of his feather on his hat. He also comes with a handy crew of 10 muskets etc. Added to the empire state troops he has a pretty tough crew.  HAve also made some of the worldworks cardboard rowboats for him to sail about in. HAvent got round to making the maiden of the seas yet.

He's a lovely little chap!

So, to make sure I have this right, he is in the most recent version of the GW Empire handgunners?

They re-design their ranges so may times I'm not sure which is which  :(

Cheers,
Ian

I want that monkey. But I will *NOT* enter the local tample of the evil empire and fork out 20 Euro for a box of plastic.

Yes the Monkey is from the new handgunners sprue...
http://uk.games-workshop.com/empire/miniature-gallery/14/

He can be seen next to the guy with the 'sniper' musket - for some reason he is painted green.

Like I said as well for some reason he has 2 tails, but it is easy to snip off and file flat.  I took the one off with the knife strapped to it, as it looked better, but either can be removed easily.

He really is a great figure, but I got mine at 15% off with free postage so was willing to splash out.  He is exactly what I wanted.

So you have principles...

Yes, they are a very high price, but you can get some slightly cheaper here:

http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=empire+handgunners

For a man of your calibre, it would be easy to then kidnap the monkey, assemble & paint the others, then re-sell them on EBay & make a profit.

I would, but just don't have the time :(

You can buy just the powder monkey without sacrificing at the alter of the two-headed eagle!

Thanks, Maeno - I think I will get some off EBay & eventually get around to combining them with my militia & zombies, to give me some nice undead for a future project  :)

What calibre would that be? .22? :-)

We Swedes have a rep for being nice, drunk and guillable so I am a bit weary som street smart London Fagin type is going to take advantage of the 'Sweden' tag in ebay and sell me the handgunners sans monkey.
